What's on the breakfast buffet at HIFS??

The menu changes from day to day. On one day you may get pancakes and bacon, the next day you may get waffles and sausage. The main items that seem to rotate are pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, ham, and scrambled eggs. Depending on the day you may get any combination of these items.

The items that seem to be pretty consistent every day are the hot and cold cereal, muffins, mini donuts, fruit, juice and milk.

When we were there, they had eggs everyday and the things that rotated were bacon or sausage and french toast or pan cakes. Sometimes there were two choices of eggs and one had ham and cheese mixed in and one didn't. Also, they always had some sort of potato but it varied...one day might be hash browns another day it might be tator tots...

There is always yogurt, apple sauce, fruit cereal toast muffins or donuts or bagels or danish.. For drinks there was pretty much everything from coffee to soda to milk (skim, and whole and chocolate) and various juices....There was something for every member of my family (a family with very different tastes that for sure!) and I can't think of anything that they didn't have that we really wanted.

I think the selection is great. I have a hard time believing that even the pickest eater couldn't find something that they could eat there!!

i guess im the pickiest eater you know then, cause i hated the hifs bfast buffet- couldnt stand it- i thought the food was way below par. i do like my food though and i really appreciate good quality food.

bat4less,
Are you saying it's lower in quality than McDonald's, for instance?

I agree -- lower than McD's and loaded with cholesterol. However, we're picky eaters too.

When we were there two years ago, they had styrofoam bowls and containers so if your kid was still asleep, you could pack him a meal and take it to your suite and have him eat it there. That was convenient. We stuck mostly to the cereals -- everything else was too cafeteria food-like.

I'll be the first to admit that the breakfast was far from gourmet dining, but I have a very hard time saying it was lower quality than McDonalds....EEEEEW come on, McDonalds? yuck!

Lower than McDonald's? Nah, and the only McDonalds meal I'd eat would be breakfast. It's not gourmet, but you can't go wrong with juice, cereal, toast and milk. It is, however, busy!

mcd's would be bankrupt if it served this kind of quality!!

why do you think its a FREE buffet to everyone??

its called mass commissary food- anyone in the food industry understands what kind of quality this bfast is.

but it is free- so people tend to like it when its free-

my family never ate it after the first am there- we hit the krispy kreme store and ate other places.

its easily 4th tier food level

They had a great selection of hot and cold foods!

The food was not exceptional, but you'd have to be extremely picky or just someone who can never be satisfied to not find something you like.

If my very picky DD could find food she liked, anyone can :).

I think it's personal preference but I would HARDLY say below par to MCDONALDs... hardly!

We stayed 6 days, two of the days were not as good as the others but it was still quite good.

I agree that FREE food is a good thing, but I stayed at many hotels with free food that I preferred not to eat.

Picky is a personal thing, also, my son will not eat red meat, we are both off sugar and milk but we both found something to enjoy because of the variety.

Enjoy!

Oh come now, it is a buffet for heaven's sake! It isn't white linen, but it is totally acceptable and plenty of choices. McDonald's? Give me a break.

We stayed at HIFS for four nights last March and decided one morning to eat a "good" breakfast at another offsite restaurant buffet. The offsite restaurant buffet didn't look very different from HIFS and we had to pay for that. Mistake!

While I have to agree that the food was not exceptional- We found the food acceptable and on par with all the other buffets we have eaten at in the area - Pondarosa, etc. or McDonalds food. I was surprised by some of the other posts. (Time of year?)
On our last trip we stayed inside at CB and I recall 28.00 for breakfast for 1 bagel & 3 Egg & Sausage plates (Like a mcdonalds big breakfast) I think the HIFS was equal in quality; and 28.00 cheaper.
We had dinner at the (Special Included) HIFS Buffet & I had Prime rib and baked potato & veg on 2 nights. WE HAD SUCH A GOOD EXPERIENCE WE GOING BACK TO HIFS 3/22.

If you are going during Spring break season; A BUFFETs is your best option. Regular service during this time is SLOW. (In 2000)We waited 45 minutes for a table and another 45 for our food. We are sold on the buffet for breakfast.
