What's new/changed since '08?

We're thinking about visiting Disneyland/CA this May, right before Memorial Day - the last time we were in the parks was June 2008.

I *think* the main differences would be:

* Toy Story Mania (was open for CM's only during our '08 trip, which was hard for the girls to understand why people were in line but we couldn't ride - luckily we've since been on the WDW version at least)

* World of Color

* Some Paradise Pier ride removals/changes?

* Lots of CA construction!

* Crossing our fingers that Little Mermaid and Star Tours 2 will be up and running by late May, but not going to assume anything until we're a bit closer.

Have there been any other significant changes or "new stuff" that we can look forward to?

When in '08 did you go? I think you hit most of them already but Pixie Hollow opened late 2008 (if that is of interest to you).

What about Nemo submarines? I think that was around 2008 that it was re-done.

We did get to ride the new Nemo subs, which was a lot of fun as I still remember the "original" subs from when I was little and lived in SoCA.

Pixie Hollow might be a hit with my girls - or at least with my youngest (7) - thanks for mentioning that! Is it primarily just a "meet & greet" area?

Yes, for the most part. But, they built it really neat. When you walk in it is made to feel like you are a fairy with huge blades of grass and big flowers and mushrooms. You meet 2-3 fairies and then go back and meet Tink and her little house is there. The house isn't open or anything but you can see the outside of it.

It is where the Little Mermaid fountain used to be.

What about the castle walkthru -- I think that was after 2008.

There was also some changes and/or additions to the Rivers of America scenery when riding the Mark Twain.

And, Murphy the dragon in Fantasmic! -- again I think that was after 2008, but she's a definite must see for those who like F!

Thanks to everyone for the additional input! I had forgotten about the castle walkthrough - our daughters have never had a chance to do that, and I only vaugely remember it myself.

Sounds like there's plenty of new stuff for us to look forward to!

And our youngest will be THRILLED if Little Mermaid is open when we visit - that's her favorite Disney movie...
