What's New at the Fort?

Man, you really brought me back. I miss River Country so much, I wish they could bring it back.

Haven't seen pictures of that area in it seems like forever. You definitely get kudos ;)

Here is another photo update of an area being worked on at the Fort.

This is where the old structure used to be that was being used for golf cart parking by the Settlement bus stops.

There was a crew working in this area over the weekend.

It sure is a strange project. They have been working on it for months.

Not sure exactly what the need is for all of this. Most folks still park their carts over by Trail's End.

TCD

I guess it's just overflow parking and/or parking for those that just want to hop on a bus. Instead of having to park all the way by Trail's End and walk to the bus stop, you can just park there.

Those are the only reasons I can think of. I doubt I will ever use that parking lot, but I could see those that are just going to hop on a bus using it.

Attention DISboard friends!

I am now going to share with you the most important new discovery made by TCD on his most recent adventure at Ft. Wilderness.

Mrs. TCD did not accompany the TCD family on this trip. Mrs. TCD likes the nice, cool weather, and to hang out around the campsite. This wasn't going to be one of those kinds of visits.

But, Mrs. TCD did offer to do the grocery shopping, and so I gave her the short list of camping essentials: Beer, hot dogs, Cheez Whiz, Ritz Crackers, Pop Tarts, some soda for the TCD kids who don't like beer, and that was pretty much it. I think that would have taken care of us for the weekend.

Of course, Mrs. TCD comes back with all kinds of stuff not on the list, like hand soap, and wipes, fruit, vegetables, and such. But, bless her heart, she found a product that will now be on my list every trip.

Check it out:

God Bless America!

This stuff actually tastes great on a bagel.

And it says right on the top of the can "No need to refrigerate."

I never thought I would live to see the day.

I highly recommend this product to each and every one of you.

Is this a great country, or what?

TCD

I am really enjoying this. Thanks for all the pics.

Ok, I just have to ask....does it really taste like cream cheese like the can claims??
:rotfl:

I am loving your report. I have laughed and laughed. I sure needed it. I go back to work tomorow...I work for the school system. So ya know??....

Blessings,
Winnie

Holy cream cheese in a can, Batman!! I'll have to try that to see if we like it for future trips. I'm always looking out for stuff that doesn't have to be refrigerated for camping (last trip we tried some Laughing Cow swiss with herbs, no refrigeration needed, tasted pretty good). Now if they could only shove some brie in a can to go with baguettes in France, I'll be good to go (I think a French person just had a heart attack somewhere).

I'll second the thumbs up on your spying techniques; you're the TCD branch of the CIA. Just let us know all your future trip dates, please! (although I don't have a Prevost or bus so I have no worries). I showed the kids your pix of the huge RVs, Me: "This one belongs to a Christian band", my son: "Genesis?"

Thanks for the pictures and report!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: OMG that is TOO funny! Sharp kid!

To the OP, I'm curious as to which band that bus belonged? I'd probably know them! (as in be familiar with their music, not "know them" personally!....I've never met anyone famous. Oh, except I shook Gerald Ford's hand when I was 10!....ok now totally OFF-topic!!)

OK, so this stuff is on my grocery list NOW. I want it. I love bagels for breakfast... and this looks TOO good!! Thanks for sharing!!

The name on the bus door was Big Daddy Weave, LLC. If you listen to contemporary Christian music, I am sure that you would recognize them!

:rotfl:

Well, first I have to admit that I am no gourmet. The kids and Mrs. TCD are amazed at what I will eat. If I ever went on Survivor or Fear Factor, I would be a lock.

Let me digress for a moment. One time, Mrs. TCD was going to be late getting home, and told me to get the left over pot roast out of the fridge and heat that up for dinner. We have an extra fridge in the garage, so when I got home, I got the Tupperware container out of the fridge, and got the pot roast out, heated it up, and ate it. It seemed a little gamey, but who am I to say? Anyway, Mrs. TCD comes home later and opens the inside fridge and asks why didn't I heat up the pot roast. I told her I did. It turns out that what I ate was one of those forgotten containers that sometimes lurk in the fridge. That pot roast I ate had been in there for a couple of months!

So, with that background, I will tell you that this cream cheese in a can is an outstanding product which is entitled to the TCD seal of approval. Not that that means anything.

It really does take like cream cheese. And it really says that you don't have to refrigerate it. Try it, you'll like it!

Anyone familiar with Napoleon Dynamite?

It is a favorite among the TCD DD's.

Anyone remember the beginning scene of the movie?

If so, you will appreciate this photo:

If you were at the Fort last weekend, you may have seen Mr. Incredible being dragged behind a golf cart.

BTW- This is not prohibited- yet.*

My 16 year old DD was waived over by security while dragging Mr. I behind the cart. She thought she was being stopped because she looked underage, but the security officer wanted to tell her that she was dragging something. He saw it was Mr. I, and said, OK, if you want to drag him, then that's OK. BTW, he never asked to see her DL, or checked to see if she was on the rental agreement as an authorized driver (she was legal-but how would he know) (and we wonder why there are so many obviously under-aged kids driving around recklessly on their carts).

TCD

*My kids always say that all of the "No Electric Carts" signs have been posted because of some of my previous golf cart exploits. Before anyone flames me- let me say that I do follow the rules.

muahahahha, I love the dragging of Mr. I behind the cart, that is freaking hilarious.

And yes, please let us know next time the CIA of the Fort is visiting so we can make proper requests on what we want you to photograph. This is one of my favorite threads in a long time...lol.
