What's my chance?????

oK, here's the scenario: I have a BIG family gathering planned for early Dec..(5 weeknights) . My 7 month window is coming up soon and we want to reserve 3 studios, and a 2 bdrm at BWV......... Do I have any chance of getting this, and if it isn't available immediatley should I do an automatic waitlist? Bob

IIRC, there are already waitlists for at least some of the days in early December. I think it is very unlikely that you can get 3 studios and a 2 bedroom at the 7 month window.

The waitlist may work - but I have no idea if it would work for 3 studios and the 2 bedroom. Lots of factors to consider in this situation.

Do you have a back up plan? Do you have enough points to hold the back up plan until all the waitlists all work? Will you waitlist for each day individually (best chance) and if so, will your family be OK with moving back and forth between resorts if everything doesn't come through at the BWV? Are you OK with not having everyone at the same resort if only some of the units become available?

Everyone has a different level of "waitlist tolerance". I'm not big on waitlists, so if I were doing a big family thing, I'd book my home resort at the 11 month window or chose a less popular time for the reunion (maybe in January, May or September).

Sorry to be so pessimistic. It's just my opinion. Others may have a different one.

I would have to say highly doubtful. I've found that the studios are very hard to get and the 2 bedroom could be a studio connected to a 1 bedroom, again raising the studio problem. I would do what the Carolmn had said about booking your home resort and switch ressies if anything opens up at BWV.

Carol is correct, the first two weeks of December are probably THE most popular times at DVC, due to the low points, Christmas decorations are up and there's so much going on.

On top of that, BWV is probably THE most popular resort for this time of year.

I would think your best bet would be one of the larger resorts, OKW or SSR since they have so many more units.

SSR might be a good choice since they will be adding new units as construction continues, thus creating more availability.

What is your home resort? If it's SSR, you should book there NOW, before the 7-month window opens. Or if you need to waitlist, you should be near the top of the listing.

In all honesty, I think your chances of getting ALL of your BWV preferences is zero. You might get parts of some, but the chance of getting everything is probably zero.

It occurs to me that the real importance in a trip like you suggest is that everyone be guaranteed to be near each other. I agree that the way to do that is to book your home resort BEFORE the 7 month window opens, and then check availablility. I personally wouldn't want to mess with the "what ifs" for a group vacation like that. Have you thought about a GV at your home resort?

I think its very doubtful and I would not depend on a waitlist for a family reunion, especially for that time of year. I like a sure thing, if it were me, I'd go with booking my home resort and feel relaxed.
