We are thinking of going 9/29 until right before Columbus Day. What will the crowds be like? (I know it will get busier the closer to Columbus Day) We have been end Oct/Nov 4 times, May once and beginning of Dec once. Always thought crowds were managable and weather nice.
What about weather in Sept/beginning of Oct?

I went with my Mom the third week of September 2002, ended up being for 5 days. Crowds were light. Disney was experimenting with hours-MK was open until 8 pm several nights that week.

Weather was a bit warm and muggy, it rained alot. The rain and cloudiness kept the temp down. Also, two relatively minor hurricanes hit south Louisiana which made it hard getting home, we had to delay leaving WDW for one day. We also had trouble driving home to Baton Rouge from the New Orleans airport. I had an annual pass so I was happy.
Fantasmic got rained out one night after we waited for over an hour.
We did get to see it the next night.

My DH and I went last year the end of September and the weather was nice. I took a couple of pairs of pants but never got them out of the suitcase it was definetely shorts weather but unliike the post above we were there 8 days and no rain. There was one day that was above 90 and that florida sun got a bit hot for me but nothing like the year we went in May. The crowds were very manageable during the week walked right on alot of stuff but on Saturday at Magic Kingdom there were a few 45min-1 hour waits so plan accordingly.

The end of September is not usually crowded. It is still our rainy season and Hurricane season as we all saw this past September. Just remember when booking, there is always a chance of a hurricane, so have a back up plan if it happens....

Not been to the parks this time of year, but as Floridian...yes..HOT!!

Our chance of a cane, less than last year, but weather folks are saying unless this Bermuda High breaks downs, IF and thats a BIG IF, are saying if there is one close to Florida look for another 2004 season. The steering currents very close to 2004, but hey there may be none to form to begin with.

They are also predicting an active hurricane season this year.

We loved it when we went the last week of Sept/first of Oct. Granted it was 2 weeks after Sept. 11th! The parks were empty! The weather was perfect, no rain whatsoever. We really got spoiled by that trip.

We went in the end of Sept / early Oct in 1998 - It was shortly after a hurricane (nothing like last year's tho) The weather was very hot & humid. Crowds were very low.

Are they really predicting another 2004 hurricane season? :earseek:

No No No ...please don't say that... I just got my roof replaced this month from Charley and I am waiting now for the "mold remediation" workers to come & get my mold out.... I do not want another season like last years.... watch, just when my house is 100% repaired from last season's damage, the new season will be upon us and we start all over again.. (boarding up that is & praying that we don't get hit)... Oh well, that is one reason why I plan my longer trip to Disney in the begining of June. Nice weather, very very slight chance of hurricane & less crowded that the summer... Last year, each time I had a weekend booked, a hurricane came :sad2: I nearly gave up trying to go to Disney...

I went 9/29-10/4 of this past year. We had no rain either. I just checked my scrapbook and the temps were borderline 90 or low 90's all but 1 day--which was 87. I do remember we didn't wear any of the pants we brought either (they were just a waste of suitcase space!!). Being that time of year, you'll be able to catch the first MNSSHP's and the Food and Wine Fest too!! We're hoping to go right around then again ourselves.

in a word, fantastic :teeth:

We have gone that time of year, every year, since 1998 (with the exception of 2001, when our DD was born :) )

We did notice last year, that the crowds really do pick up closer to Columbus Day. It started on Thursday afternoon....Epcot was really crazy that night, especially with the Food & Wine Festival. Other than that, the weather is perfect, waits are minimal, and there's MNSSHP and the Food & WIne Festival. Good times!!

We are leaving for WDW on September 30

Since DH and I have always gone during the mid-end of Sept, I thought i could give my take on it. We have been very spoiled with this time of year. It is always warm. One night it had gotten windy, and while we were dining at CA Grill- and stepped out to watch Wishes- it was quite chilly! Of course anyone would be chilly up there (with chills from the fireworks too!). DH and I love this time of year. We first went a few days after 9-11. It was so dead! I was in heaven! I must say though, as the years have gone on (we have been every year since) the crowds have increased. This is for a couple reasons: 1). People have found out the secret that Sept is an AWESOME time to visit the parks. 2). Hurricanes that hit in August force people to change their ressies. It's unfortunate, but we as humans really have no control over it. I must say though, it made people more cranky in the parks last year. It could just be me though. I know a LOT of people last year, had to change their ressies a couple of times...because of those darn hurricanes.

Overall though, September is a great month for us. We are going in April this year since we are going to Vegas with my parents this Sept. It will be new to us. Hope we enjoy April as much as we enjoy Sept! :love1:
