What's in YOUR fanny-pack?

OK I could never be convinced to use a fanny pack, except in a theme park! It seems like a good solution to a purse weighing down one side (that everyone will want to cram their stuff in) or a back pack that will get hot (that everyone will want to cram their stuff in).

So - my SIL will need a diaper bag.

But for adults and older kids, what do you REALLY need to carry with you?

I'm thinking:

Park tickets/Fastpasses
camera
cell phone (for wait times and if we get separated)
ID/Credit card/cash/insurance cards
Sunscreen/lip balm
Tissues

I will also need one tiny change of clothes for my 5yo who still has accidents....

I do think I will take a little bag of drinks and snacks for the kids, which I will hang on the stroller, and if someone steals it it's not a big deal.

What else can't you live without in the park?

My park-going "kit" (usually shoved in pants pockets, etc...)
  • ticket/AP
  • ID
  • Money
  • Credit card
  • Cell phone
  • crystal light packets in a ziplock
  • plastic water bottle (12 oz)
  • camera (clipped to belt loop)
  • spare camera battery (in camera case)
  • hat and sunglasses (on my head)
  • pins for trading
  • pen
  • sweatshirt/jacket (tied across waist)

The above is hands-free. When we went to WDW I had a larger camera that required a bag of some sort so I added in a few snacks, advil, a few bandaids, chapstick, and sunscreen.

Because my cell phone often *is* my camera, and I use it to post real-time trip updates to Twitter/FB/Flickr (usually all at the same time), I also carry my cell phone charger. For the life of me, I can't remember where I've charged my phone in the park... the Hungry Bear restrooms? For some reason I want to say near the Snow White wishing well there's a camouflaged electrical outlet, but I haven't used that one.

Oh, how could I forget -- a lanyard that has been stripped of the pins that I want to keep, but with plenty of trading pins.

I also keep a refillable water bottle and a ziploc of Splenda packets in case I get coffee (although I seem to remember that it's easier to find Splenda in the parks now). I used to have "souvenir Disneyland mug" on my list, but I don't think they let you get discounted drinks with those anymore. Or is it just unadvertised?

I refuse to wear a fanny pack...but I have a cross body bag that I use on our trips. :) It's green striped and has Mickey on it. :) I got it from Avon a few years ago, I love it!! In it I carry,
water bottle
wallet
trading pins
camera
cell phone
hat
and anything I think I may need to carry with me. I don't take a lot into the parks so I don't need a very big bag. :)

I bring my little Disney dooney & burke wristlet. i am able to fit my camera, phone, ID, cash, debit card, AP, and any FP I collect during the day. It's all I need for the parks and I barely even notice that I am holding it. :) Plus it's super cute and Disney themed!

Considering you have a 5 year old, I would add

Neosporin (wound cleanser)
Tylenol for kids
A couple of band-aids

For a just in case :thumbsup2

Good tips...but keep in mind OP, if you do forget to bring these types of things you can find them at the First Stations, they hand them out with no problems. :)

I use a little monopack for touring in the parks, and generally I'll have:

-bandaids
-moleskin
-Water bottle
-Gum
-Antacid
-Disposable poncho (haven't had to use it in the past two trips)
-Wipes
-hand sanitizer
-Sunscreen
-BodyGlide (anti-chafe balm, picked up the tip from this board)

Generally my camera and cell phone will go in pockets.

What's a monopack?

Not a thing ! Rent a locker for the big stuff, besides that pockets ! I use a vest to give me plenty. Of course my child is 20 so that helps.......

A monopack is basically a really small backpack with only one strap. A bit bigger than the usual fanny pack, but still a lot more portable than a full size backpack would be.

what is moleskin? Is that for blisters?:confused3

Besides what everyone else said,

I am bringing a plastic sack to put my bag in for wet rides.

some wet naps for sticky fingers after my 5 year old has ice cream or something.

I am trying to think of something for her to do while waiting in long lines, any ideas?:cool2:

Yes, moleskin is for blisters.

I'll entertain with the iPhone if I have to!

I also may bring the hidden mickeys book for entertainment.

I have a three part leather fanny pack, that I wear on the front, small pocket tickets, c card, Disney rewards card and $$ big middle pocket, camera, cell phone and tube with quarters/pennys for machines, front pocket, Pressed penny tube, map and gum+-

When we went to WDW a couple of years ago I grabbed a bunch of tiny bubble bottles and the kids could blow bubbles while waiting in lines. They were entertaining for everybody around. I also had a small notebook for them with a pen that they could doodble on.

Oh! That sounds like a good idea. I have a cross-body purse that's on it's last leg. I may look into one of those for our trip.:thumbsup2

For what it's worth, my bag isn't a fanny pack either. It's a small backpack (actually a day bag that came attached to a larger backpacking backpack). It holds what I need and doesn't get in the way when I'm on rides.

I'm rather Pooh sized and haven't found any fanny packs that fit!
