What do you all usually pack in your carry on? What things to you pack to keep kids occupied?

I am curious as to what others bring along w/ them and I am looking for some new ideas of some things to throw in my carry on for the kids, but little things that do not take up much space.

Usually in my carry on I have:

bathing suits
gum/candy
a couple dry snacks
kids movie players
book
travel documents
wallet/money etc
sunblock
advil
tissues
coloring books/crayons
prescription meds

Here's everything I can think of right now:

DVD player and movies
snacks (goldfish, raisins, fruit snacks, cheerios, etc.)
one full change of clothes
prescription meds and contact lens solution
book and/or magazine
travel size magna doodle
gum
travel info (itinerary, confirmation numbers, etc.)
hand sanitizer and lotion
toothpaste and toothbrushes
deodorant
digital camera
lip balm
wallet with credit cards, ID, and cash
mp3 player
coloring book and crayons
blanky/lovey

A long while back I found magnetic games in the Target Dollar Spot. They had tic-tac-toe, chinese checkers, normal checkers, etc. Probably not still there, but you may find something similar at the dollar store.

You could also get them a book that has the magic pen (you know the kind where the ink looks clear and when you color different spots come up different colors)

You could also look for pre-school puzzle books. I did this once with my 4 yr old and he was occupied for a while.

That's all I can think of right now.

hand sanitizer
cell phone, camera, and iPod chargers
travel size toilet paper
snacks
camera
iPod
makeup
change of clothes
ponchos
travel size first aid kit

15 days I CAN'T WAIT!!!:cool1: :cheer2: :woohoo: :yay:

My carry on-
laptop
camera
cell phone
magazines
ear planes
gum
sunglasses
mp3 player
disney binder
meds
toiletries

DH's carry on-
camcorder
magazines
mp3 player
cell phone
all chargers/batteries for electronics
his and mine swim suits and an outfit for each of us
toiletries
book

Kids-
gameboys
dvd player
swimsuits
extra outfit
stuffed animal

We finally have realized that the kids don't need a bag full of stuff to entertain them. They usually either listen to the free satellite radio (airtran), watch a dvd or play thier gameboys.

-Diapers (hopefully I won't need them in August)
-wipes
-hand cleanser
-snacks for kids-includes gummy candy, lolipops & gum even at 8 in the am -they can have that if they will be good on the plane.
-a puzzle magazine for me with a few pens/pencils
-empty sippy cups for all 3 kids (even my 7 yo will get one but they are cup ones)
-lap top with a few movies (flying Jet Blue so we probably won't need the movies)
-glasses/saline/contact case for me
-chap stick
-bandaids
-benadryl/epi pen/inhaler for ds
-tylenol/motrin
-nail file
-a couple of things for the kids to play with (I have 3) but small things & not alot as I learned from my last trip that they had no interest & just wanted to watch movies.
-camera
-video camera (and all the supplies I need for that & the camera too)
-travel documents
-cell phone
-the kids lovies/things they have to bring-blanket/stuffed animal

I hope to have minimal stuff.

My dh will have a back pack with stuff in it that doesn't have to be taken out on the plane unless necessary-lap top, cameras, etc..

I will have a back pack or a bag with the diapers/snacks/toys in it for kids.

My 2 older kids can carry thier own back pack they will be 7 1/2 & almost 5 at the time we go in August. They can put their blankets & stuffed animals & the few things they want to bring in there.

I am sure my youngest (2 1/2 at the time we go) will want a back pack & I do have a small one & since she likes to follow what her siblings do she will carry it on her back. She can put a few things in it that will fit & we can throw the rest in dh's back pack.

We are taking ME but we are getting our suitcases so I will put in one of them a bag of bathing suits & sun screen for the pool since we should be there by noon. No sense carrying that stuff (I used to).

I don't carry a purse (diaper bag, yay me) so I will give dh my license & he carry's that with our money & our park tickets. We have been traveling like that for so long that it is just so much easier when one person is reaching for the money instead of both of us.
