just wondering from those around long enough to remember film :)

i have been reading a book on digital and learning lots of stuff( duh didn't realize the sensor was the "replacement" for film and iso seems different from what i have gotten so far...more noise related with digital although i guess grain would be similar with film )but wonder what opinions are...i kind of thought it would be easier with digital since you can take it again if need be but this book seems to think other wise( or maybe it's just new synapse are struggling to be made in my brain)

No way are you going to lure me into a film vs digital debate! ;)

I really don't see much of a difference in most ways, we still have to select the exposure, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.

One difference is that I can shoot a lot more now, try different angles, bracketing, etc that I *could* have done with film but either couldn't afford to or kept hearing that "cha-ching" sound everytime I pressed the shutter button.

It's still about the same to me.

film is more difficult... on the wallet.

I will agree with you there! One year I took so many photos at WDW that I though the processing was going to cost more than the trip itself :lmao:

I have some input into this. First concerns low light. IMO all things being the same(aperture, shutter speed) 400 and 800 print films will yield better pics.

The second concerns slide film. I have shot slide film and will continue to shoot slide film as long as they keep making it. Again this is just my opinion but slide film color blows away digital pics color. I took some took rolls of slide film at the tulip festival in Holland MI,...wowzers!!!! they are awesome compared to the digital I took. Now granted you could spend time with a computer program to tweak the digital pic this way and that to get it to look like the slide.

Also I have a slide projector. A slide of the grand canyon on big screen looks way more grandios then a digital pic on the computer.

PM me and I'll send you the program with a whole bunch of film emulations (including Velvia, Provia etc). No time spending needed other than one click.
