What's Happening with MK?

Hi all,

Our family will be going to WDW in a few days: Hubby and I, mom and dad and our 9 month old. My parents took my sister and I every year starting in 1978. Now we are starting a new tradition.

That being said, the week we return my sister and her husband are taking my niece as a surprise. My sister is fine tuning EVERY detail(to the point of annoyance) and learned that the MK railroad will be closed when they are there. So, how does that affect the "grand opening" of the Magic Kingdom when the characters arrive at Main St. Station and welcome people into the park? Will there be a "opening" as usual?

My sister is literally going to call the Magic Kingdom to find out.....I'm serious! I figured I could get an answer here.

When are you going? It's probably just a routine refurb, assuming you are talking about WDW and Disneyland. The railroad will be shutting down for about a year and half at Disneyland for Star Wars Land construction starting in January.

HI Soniam, we are going 10/8 to 10/13. My sister and family are going 10/15 to 10/22. Yes it will be at MK in WDW. Its not a big thing 4 us to see since our baby is so young. But my niece is 4.5 and has been raised on disney from day 1. She has the MK dvd and is expecting to see the characters arrive by train plus my sister wants to be sure the whole trip is magical. She is such a pain but i dont blame her 4 wanting a magical trip

Yes this is normal WDW railroad refurb. The morning show continues just without the train
