Never dined at HOB , would like to try on next trip. If you have a favorite or suggestions for dinner I would like to hear them.:D :D :D

Uncleromulus I do like meatloaf and I'm sure the HOB version will be great. Can you tell me what a Dixie Blackened Vodoo consists of?Thanks for your post.:D

We've been there most recently for lunch, but have had several dinners there also and really enjoy the place. My very favorite thing on the menu is the skillet cornbread. It's hard to remember why it's so good, but it's a little sweet. It comes as a side with one of the appetizers (? perhaps the gumbo, which was very good, but I can't recall). Last time, I ordered it separate, and it came in a small cast iron skillet size serving for about $5-6, I think (I remember how much I liked it, not the details). The plan was to eat 1/2 with my salad and take 1/2 back for my breakfast the next day. DH, who isn't a big cornbread fan, assisted me in eating the entire thing.
Check out the cool t shirts in their store, too. We've hit some good sales.

For all the great tips and suggestions.I need to get a bottle of hot sauce for co-worker who said was in store at HOB.I have name he gave me that I can't post in good taste. He swears that's the name so I will try.:D Thanks

We ate lunch at HoB and we all had great food - mostly sandwiches and stuff. I think anything they have is very good. We're going back in June.

We have only eaten at the Gospel Brunch. The bread pudding is so good - especially when you drown it in the whiskey sauce. I swear - I don't drink anything alcoholic and after 3 servings of the pudding and sauce, I had a buzz on.

The jambalya is really great! It's a really huge serving though ... :p

danny1649:
Dixie Blackened Vodoo is a beer, brewed by Dixie Brewing Co.(in New Orleans, I think).
Anyway--hard to find up here in Pa., but several WDW spots have it-- HOB, Boatwrights, Yachtsman Steakhouse, and Narcoosees.
It's a dark Lager, with a high malt content. Goes well with spicy foods.

I can also vouch for the Jambalaya. It's not only huge but quite spicy. Our server recommended the side of "skillet baked rosemary corn bread with maple butter". and it was a good combination. I like spicy food but the Jambalaya is unrelenting and the cornbread was a nice change of pace.

The Gospel Brunch at the HOB was one of my favorite things we did, it was very entertaining and the food was delicious!!

We had considered doing the gospel brunch on our trip this year. I had just read a post on DD resturants and there was several remarks on not taking children to The house of Blues resturant. Now I am not the type of parent that would take my child to a bar setting but he is a well behaved 10 year old that eats everywhere we do. Have I missed somthing about this place. I am sure they serve alcohol as do most nice places we eat ,but is there more of a bar setting to this place. One poster mentioned witchcraft but did not give any other info. Any parents out there who have taken kids here?

We didn't take our children, but that was pretty much a coincidence. (It was our one "alone" meal on that trip.) We didn't see quite as many children as at other WDW restaurants, but there were some, and I wouldn't hesitate to take ours. There is a childrens menu posted at http://wdwig.com/menu/men_hbk.htm.

I read the post you referred to, and where that person saw "witchcraft", I only saw unusual artwork. Between the music and artwork, there is a lot of culture and atmosphere.

I love the Banana Bread Pudding dessert but I haven't had it since 2001 - I hope they still have it.

Gospel Brunch is tasty - the shrimp were great!

I LOVE the artwork. And I like Dixie Blackened Voodoo beer. Ooooh, am I in trouble.

Shrimp Po'boy :) Yum!

Was in a "not really hungry" mood my 1st visit, and now I sentimentally/traditionally order it. (I REALLY need to branch out and order somethin' else sometime!).

Denise < --- is SO old, she still remembers attending a Blues Brothers concert tour back in the 80's after the movie release;)

Jordan's Mom:
HOB is no more of a bar atmosphere place than any other restaurant at DD. We always see children there when we go.
The bar area is way in the back of the restaurant, well out of the way of the main dining area.

We've taken DS and DD for lunch-we noticed
that when there are kids they try to seat you
pretty close to the front of the restaurant (away from
the bar). Was never a problem for us.
