What's going on with McDonald's french fries?

Maybe its just us....but we go weekly to McDonalds for DD. DH & I usually get something else, but this past Monday, we got stuff for us too. None of us could even eat the french fries because they tasted and smelled really bad. Then today, got fries for DD again from a different McDonalds. I tasted them, not like Mon, but still not normal and DD even said she didn't like them (this from a girl who could eat fries for every meal). Is it just us, or something in the Chicago area, or did they change something?

Funny you should post this. I've noticed the fries have been off lately too. We were there for dinner tonight. I was torn between ordering chicken selects & the salad. Glad I went with the salad cause I tasted the kids' fires. It's like they weren't cooked. Even my 10 yr aka the human garbage disposal, didn't care for them. I commented that it seems like they have shortened the cooking time.

Interesting, I got my kids Happy Meals yesterday and none of them ate the fries. They didn't say anything, but the boys wouldn't so I wonder.

Yea because all of you health NUTZ made them do it you know they could never put what was in there on the package.

Now that they are listing ingred.on the box you knew it was going to make them taste like everyother fry out there.

They did that some years ago when they took the lard out of the fat mixture that they fry them in. The only way McDs fries even remotely interest me is when they are JUST out of the frier. Less fresh and I couldn't care less about them.

I dont get them anymore, I got them a few months ago and threw them out, they were horrible...I used to like their FF better then Wendys now I rather eat wendys till tey change theirs

Funny---I noticed the same thing a couple of days ago when we went thru the drive thru. I still ate them but thought that something was different. My first thought was that they went back to the oil they were using a few years ago. I remember when they made that change it took me awhile to get used to them. I remember when BK changed their fries to having that "coating." Yes, we eat fast food too much when we are on the run!

Hmm, just yesterday DD bought some and said that they have tasted lousy lately. She threw most of them away.

maybe the finaly decided to use real potatos?

sorry but after seeing how after weeks of non refridgeration they never changed in consistancy, never showed signs of mold...in "supersize me" i am totaly turned off on them.

now i suspect jack in the box is using some different type of cooking oil-all of the fried items have recently taken on an odd taste and consistancy.

So glad I read this! I had some yesterday and they were DEFINITELY "off." I assumed it was just my local McD's... but really interesting to know it's other ones as well! And it's different than when they switched to the healthier oil. I was ok with the taste of the "improved" version. But this was very different! More like the pasty, chalkiness of Burger King Fries...

We haven't had the fried apple pies here in years. They have those nasty baked things. Yuck!
