What's going on Dec. 5-12

I dont know where to post this. But here goes....Does anyone know what (if anything) is going on during this time at Disneyworld. It's not included in the free meal plan promotion and we are having trouble getting a reservation (even camping). Is there some event or something or is this some kind of freakish busy time. Thanks for any input.

There are some sporting events, I believe little league related. Others might have the details, but most of the value resorts are probably filling up quick and POR is one of the overflow options. Have you looked at Deluxe options? We went last year and had no problem booking a deluxe room during the same time.

Yep. That is Pop Warner week, which is a huge youth football and cheerleading event. That is why they are not offering Free Dining then, and rooms are hard to get. Can you change your plans to the next week?

I was there a few years ago during this time. We were at All Star Movies and the food court was PACKED with unsupervised teens, but they weren't all that bad. They didn't really affect the crowd levels at the parks because the kids are busy with their sporting events. You may get the occasional bus load of obnoxious kids, but you really could get that anytime! Slight increase of craziness, but not enough to prevent me from going at that time again.

I would recommend NOT staying at one of the Value resorts though. Go moderate or deluxe if you can. If you really need to go Value, then switch to the next week.

Yes. It's always held either the first or second week of December. Their last day in the parks this year is Dec. 13. Next years exact dates have not been announced yet.

The value resorts get packed during Pop Warner. If you could change the dates, I would. Too crazy!!!!!

The park crowds were light during the week so we saw no effect from the event. Well...there was one time when we went to the Festival of the Lion King and a whole group of cheerleaders from Mexico came in and sat all around us and started a pre-show cheer that was a bit loud, but not bad. They settled down when the show started.

Also be prepared for the Christmas parade filming with Regis and Kelly. I believe it will happen the 12/5-12/7 sometime in MK. We didn't realize this a couple of years ago and it was crazy. Luckily we climbed our way to the train depot and made it to the back of the park. Then we just wen to another park to enjoy the day. In 2006 Pop Warner was going on and we were at POFQ---occasional crazy bus, but do not remember Parks being bad. This year we are staying at Pop 12/5-12/14 and have noticed that this week has been taken off the list as weeks to go on the website--dang it. I do not expect it to be real crazy--if you do decide to go and are considering the MVMCP, go on Tuesday Night. Have a great time and good luck with your reservations.
