I know just being there will be fun. but- We have two little ones 5 and under and are planning to visit after x-mas through New Years. We were thinking about eating at the special PHGrill New Years charater dinner about 6 or 7 pm then go back to parks, watch fireworks and then maybe back to the PHGrill for the dance that they have from 11-12 if the kids can stay up that long. Is that a good idea or is there anything else that you all know about that is special? that we should try maybe instead?

Seriously consider heading to DCA for the later portion of the night. Disneyland was a horrible mob scene last year but we had a gorgeous view of the fireworks from the plaza (over the "golden gate" no less) with very few people. The ability to get champagne was nice too.

If you leave DL, you may not be able to reenter. It gets that crowded on NYE.

Last year I did not feel it was that bad at all. Of course, the weather had been horrible and it had rained all day; chasing a lot of people away. We spent the early part of the evening at DCA and celebrated the new year in front of the castle. We are returning again this year.

Most New Years Eves are packed and they do sometimes restrict entrance. You do run the risk of not getting back in the park if you leave. Last year was fairly empty (by New Years Eve standards) because of the rain.

It is a lot of fun, but not sure I would take such young kids because of the possible crowds. You usually get party hats and noisemakers but they aren't Disney specific. And they have done a New York countdown at 9pm then a local countdown at 12am. So for those who can't last until the end, you can always go to the 9pm one.

Hey!

Thanks for the great tip! We could watch the earlier countdown if we need to get the kids to bed earlier.

Thanks for telling what you all think and if there is any other ideas- Please let me Know! :teeth:

If you have two small children, I would advise staying IN DL.

A lot of folks go out to Downtown Disney or the hotels, and unfortunately sometimes have a bit too much to drink.

I have seen a few rowdy occasions.

Best to keep the kiddies in a safe, yet crowded, alcohol free zone.
