Whats for dinner?

Since its Wednesday, as usual we went to my parents house for macaroni.

I looked as hard as I could but I couldn't find Lori's or Amy's homes for dinner. :(

DH went to bed as soon as I got home and we didn't have anything planned for dinner. I ended up fixing eggs, bacon, and toast for me and the kids.

Next time, I could use better directions. ;) :p

Oh, could someone tell me what pasties are? Besides an accessory for exotic dancers, I mean.

I made meat sauce with mushrooms & served over spaghetti tonight. We usually have Penne pasta but tonight it was (thin) spaghetti! My DS8 won't eat the sauce though, so he had his with butter & a dash of milk!

Hi, Peggy-

Pasties (short a sound ;) ) are a pastry crust that you lay out flat and, at least for the kind we had last night, you fill one half of the crust with diced potatoes, chopped onions, and ground beef. Then you fold the crust over, crimp, and bake for an hour. You can make dessert pasties filled with cherry, blueberry, and apple pie filling.

These sound good, but can we get a little more info on how to prepare them. Do you cook the potatoes and onions first? Is there a specialo kind of pastry crust you use? Sounds like something we would like to eat.

Amy, I could use some delicious Pumpkin Cheesecake.

Lois, please share how you make your pasties. They sound good.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was thinking this..

Oops, I don't make my own... The company that makes them is local to me and they have women there handmaking them. I'm sure the ground beef is precooked, but because the pastie is baked at 400 degrees for 55 minutes I'm thinking the potatoes and onions do not have to be precooked. Also, the size of the crust is to your choosing and don't forget to make vent slits in the top. They also use different filling combinations, if you're really creative! ::yes::

Hope this makes sense. YUM!
