Never had the nerve to barge into your previous thread but since this one is new, I'll bite. We're having pork loin roast for dinner. I haven't quite decided yet how I'll cook it (although if I'm crocking it, I'd better make it snappy, eh?). Suggestions welcome! :thumbsup2

I never got too into the other thread either but I feel like this is a fresh start!!

We are having pizza for dinner tonight ... boring I know.

Tomorrow will be good though. I think I am going to make Teriyaki Beef Short Ribs!

Welcome to all the new posters. Stick around and post some more!

I already said it is BLTs tonight but I forgot to mention I'll be having dinner in NOLA tomorrow!! :yay:

Guess I'm out of the loop, why are there power outages?

ETA: Just went to a news site and found out why. It said there were outages from Daytona to the Keys. I'm in that area, but we still have power. We're close to the St. Lucie power plant so I guess that why we're ok. However, my A/C isn't working and it's 85° right now. Thank goodness there is a cold front coming through tomorrow.

I haven't had the news on. We haven't lost power at home in Boca Raton. But now that you mention it, when I got off of work some of the street signals were off. I'd better go check cnn.com.

It is on our local news right now. I hope that you continue to be unaffected.

I heard that "much of Fl is out" due to power surge. My DH was watching the news, I really hope it is not as bad as it sounds.
I love maple glazed salmon. Yumm!

I just figured out that's why our A/C won't work. We are on an on call program that shuts down our A/C and hot water tank when there is high volume usage in our area or a problem. I just assumed it was our A/C unit because we have a minor leak that freezes up the compressor (or something like that) and shuts down until it thaws.

How do you make your maple salmon?

Glad your power isn't out. Are you on the FPL on call program?

Promise you won't laugh? First, I have made a maple glaze with butter and I think I used a little mustard but my favorite method is to head to the restaurant down the road. They use bacon and maple syrup and it is way better then mine, and then i don't have to watch Jeff scrape the glaze off and Buddy grimace like I was forcing him to eat liver and asparagus both if which he hates.

Yesterday as he was munching his potato crusted chicken, which I thought was good and swallowing his pasta pomodoro he was asking why he is going to eat healthy because the girls are counting points. Yes. Forever? Yes. Can he eat any good stuff...you know gravy? If he can eat his healthy food without whining. I am negotiating with someone who claims he can't use his words but he getting pot roast and gravy tonight. Who just won that one???????:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sheryl -- Please stay safe. It is scary when that kind of violence happens so close to home.

I thik I have the flu so I have no idea what to do about dinner. Maybe take out.

Rest!! And I hope you feel better soon.

I take my hat off to you and Tom for doing the work yourself. Buddy did the bathroom years ago and we both agreed that it did not matter how long it took, how many jobs he worked, or how much it cost.......he would never tackle a home improvement job....again....ever.....never.....not ever!
:rotfl: You are on a roll tonight Nancy!

I was going to make the lemon spaghetti yesterday, was drooling over the though but then looked at the recipe and saw Marisa ans Erica's points going through the roof! I know that I can adjust the recipe but I really did not want to, it looks too good the way it is.

I just made it last week, and it is good, but you could definitely change it. As is, it is like a lemon-flavored fettuccine alfredo. You could take out both the cream and the cheese and add either shrimp, scallops, clams or chicken, and it would be very tasty. (I would sprinkle on a little cheese if you went with the chicken, but no cheese with the seafood.)

Of course, I may not be the best expert to consult on healthifying foods. I just got a sign for my kitchen quoting Julia Child that says, "If you're afraid of butter, use cream."

Dinner tonight was the sesame chicken wings using Lauren's Asian Marinade. Caili loved it! I think she ate ten wings...maybe more. Here's a pic of the wings:

Sides were rice and roasted asparagus.

That's the face Alex made the other night when I told him we were going to eat heathly :lmao:

Tonight we are having sausage and spaghetti

I hope all of you in Fl keep your power sounded like a really large area. We have a business that we frequently talk to that was without power. Though they are on a high priorty list since they are in a building that does dialysis.

We king of lucked out we only had 4.5 inches of snow last night. I hear we have a few more days of snow this week.:yay: All this is good for flowers right? Lie if you have to.:rotfl:

The "Southern smothered" chicken recipe by Sandra Lee and her cornbread stuffing were AMAZING if you're not watching your weight/calories! YUMMO!!!

Nancy, having someone else cook it is always the best method. Well, my maple salmon was just ok. I prefer the teriyaki glaze, just getting tired of it. Next time I will definitely try Kathy's recipe.

:scared: It got mighty hot in my house, especially with the oven broiler on, but the A/C finally came back on. Whew!

Hey all.....Don't know how I missed yesterday......heck I almost missed today...just having some ho-hum days this week...I am going to try to do a quick catch up...."try" being the word to focus on as we are just sooooo chatty........

Lindsey--I am happy to hear that your "chat" cleared up some issues you were having with the SK's, thanks for starting another index for all of us once again!!!

Nancy--I am amazed at this whole buying the dress so far in advance.....there is no way that any child will fit into anything 3 months from now nevermind a year later.......I am sure you will be able to get things worked out the way it needs to be, and still keep peace on it all...keep us posted on how it all works out though!

Kathy--How is our star ball player feeling now?

Sheryl--Oh my goodness....I can't even imagine how nervous you must be to go shopping...that is just so sad......please be careful and I know you know to, but just keep yourself aware of everything around you while out....I always hit my car alarm when I am a few cars from it just incase someone is nearby in hopes it would freak them out, I am a nervous nelly in parking lots ever since I had a guy get in the front seat of my car when I was 19, wanting cigs from me.(back then I smoked and he watched me light up on the way back to my car)....scared the dickens out of me and I will never forget it...

Laura--those wings look yummy!! I can see why Miss Caili ate a bunch!!

I know for a fact I have missed a ton, I will try to catch up better tomorrow.
We had our 1 day of no snow so as it has been all winter we are now in a severe winter storm watch...we should be getting around 12-14 inches by tomrrow afternoon....I hope it winds down overnight instead and Ross will only have a delay so it will count..we are so in debt of snow days now...

Dinner tonight was lasagna leftovers and salad.......it was quick and easy as it was karate night.

Well, I did make an omelet, but it tasted like paste! I am blaming the fact that I used pre-shredded cheddar--I think it is coated with cornstarch, so it really impacted the omelet texture. Needless to say, I threw it out! But, I did have some oven roasted tomatoes, hash browns, and brown-sugar basil-bacon to eat, so I was fine. No picture though! :)

The lemon spaghetti was really good! I do agree it's like a lemon fettuchini alfredo. Very tasty, quick, and easy.

We mixed in shredded rottiserie chicken into our bowls and it was actually pretty good - I was surprised!

I served it with crusty wheat bread.

Tonight I am making breakfast for dinner: scrambled eggs with sausage and sugar-cinnamon croissants.

WFD at your house?

ETA: My friends, I am not well. I can't go into details right now, but please remember me in your thoughts. Just a clue, listen to this song:

Morning All!

Well, we finished mortaring up the replacement bricks on the fireplace yesterday. It took a while and I am really sore today. My arthritis in my ankle is really acting up.

As far as doing this work ourselves, it is hard and very time consuming (we have been working on downstairs since Oct) and we have gotten mad at one another more than once but we are driven to do this ourselves to save some money...in order to do other things (vacations, etc)...I guess Tom doesn't mind the work since he has a whole bunch of other projects planned...the kitchen and upstairs bath. I, on the other hand, would just put it off! :)

On a great note...I lost 5#s my first week of WW! :cool1: Tom lost 8!!! We are on the right road this time and are determined to do this. I need to lose about 30 - 40! We have a great WW leader...I know her for a while now...we first met when Fergie attended one of our meetings.

Glynis, Hope you enjoyed the pork chops!

Laura, Glad you like the marinade! Those wings sure looked good!

Sheryl, Stay safe my friend. That was a horrible story. :sad2:

Kat, can you share that recipe?

Sandy and Lucas, Hope you guys are OK with the power outage...

Lucas, Have a great trip!

I know I probably forgot something but I should be able to sneak on again later...the electrician is coming and tomorrow we get a new garage door so I guess I should clean out the garage a bit...:scared1:

We are having broiled boneless pork chops, rice (some type of Lipton), french green beans (those haricot vert things) and asparagus.

Have a great day~

Lauren - The Cajun Pork Tenderloin has been posted on this thread. I can post it again when I get home from work this afternoon if you haven't found it.:goodvibes

Janice, You sound like you are so ready for spring. You WILL have beautiful flowers. :thumbsup2

Can someone share the recipe for Curry Sweet Potatoes? I think this is Becky's recipe. Is this a strong curry flavor? I think I have some sweet potatoes to use up. TIA!
