What's faster? Disney Buses or your own car?

Definitely the car. The only exception maybe with the Magic Kingdom, since they drop you off out front.

That depends. If you are going to MK, you must park at TTC then take the monorail or boat to MK. I drove there today. I had to wait for two monorails before I could get on to go to MK. That is after waiting for the tram from the parking lot to get to the monorail station.

When I was ready to head home (about 5:30 pm), I had to wait for two monorails to get on to go back to TTC. Then, I waited to get on a tram to the parking lot. All in all, it took me almost 45 minutes to get from my car to the entrance of MK and about the same going back to my car. That did not include drive time.

We rent a car and drive everywhere, including the MK because we think of the monorail as a not to be missed attraction! :)

We loved the buses and used nothing else when it was just DH and I. When we brought our DS for the 1st time we rented a car and for the first day or so we continued to use the busses but we found that waiting around with a toddler was not much fun. We started driving and loved the ease of us - even at the MK it was not as bad as we feared. Ever since then with the kids we use our own car to get everywhere. We don't have to wait in long lines for buses, carrying our kids and once we do get to our car the kids can fall asleep in their own seats for the drive back to the resort and it is so nice and quiet. :) For us now driving beats riding the busses every time. :)

So true! WDW transportation is a good as it can be, and is often kind of fun, but with our young ones, our own car was much more peaceful. Now we stay offsite so the issue is moot!

We usually drive because we get impatiesnt waiting for the bus. As everyone else had already said though, I like to take the bus to MK if we are trying to be among the first to enter the park. If we are going to MK midday, we still drive and take the monorail.....because it is more fun. I think the main battle that you have to fight is wheather you..........(1) get more irritable waiting for a while for a bus, or (2) get high anxiety from driving around an unfamiliar place looking for one of a million locations (many signs will list 10 different location directions....it's sometimes hard to find your while zooming by).

We take the bus to MK and drive anywhere else. Skipping the TTC on the way to MK and getting dropped off at the gate saves a lot of time.

I agree.
When I drive to disney I drive to every park except MK. Because you have to park at TTC than wait and take a tram to the monorail or boat launch. If you take the bus you get dropped off practically at the gate.

I spend all of my time at home running around town doing errands , shopping and fighting traffic into and out of the city for work. When I get to Disney I like not driving and I like waiting for the bus. .I sit there most of the time relaxing and enjoying a little peace and quiet then get driven to my destination ..............aaaaaahhhhhhh vacation !!!!!

We found that we need to rent a car with 2 young children..... we've tried depending on just the buses, and found them to be unreliable...in wait times. Especially when you have the dining plan and need to get somewhere at 7:50 a.m.... the buses are no good! We found renting a car gave us the flexibility to get where we wanted faster than the buses. Now, if you go to Epcot, and want to go to MK, leave your car at Epcot and take monorail to MK, simple routes like that help, but MK is always a hassle. Even when we drove, we had to wait in long lines to get back to the transportation center, but we also waited 2 hours for a bus...
But no matter, we always rent a car.
It's worth paying the money to have a car at all times....

We've done it both ways and find we prefer a car. There are several reasons; free parking; fewer lines to stand in; and it's faster; except maybe to MK. We even found the MK trip to be quite easy with the car.

There's a lot to be said for the quiet of your own car at the end of a long day in the parks.

It's also much easier to get to restaurants at other resorts on property if you have a car.

I prefer using the busses.....I think they are part of the Disney magic. Plus we fly and don't usually rent a car....so it is nice to save that extra money.

That being said, it is nice to have a car sometimes, especially to go to the restaurants at some of the resorts and things like that. But we don't mind the busses either, and have rarely had a problem with them in all our trips.
