What's Fair To Ask For Boardwalk Ressie?

I am asking on this Board because these are "budget-minded" people that stay onsite...
But I have to rent out a Preferred View Studio at the Boardwalk for the
4th of July week in 2005 because it turns out my husband didn't get that
week for vacation next year...
I know that the Boardwalk is an expensive place to stay, but I also know
that the 4th of July is an extremely busy time of the year. So, I am just
wondering (in a poll style) what people would actually consider to be a
"fair" deal. (These prices include all taxes - so there wouldn't be any additional cost - and is a check in on Sunday and out on Friday reservation)
  1. $165/night
  2. $170/night
  3. $175/night

You may want to check out the DVC rent/trade board...the last time I checked points were going for $10-12 each to rent, so you can multiply that by the amount of points that ressie cost you - the rent/trade board would also be a great place to post the reservation as available for someone to rent from you.

Good Luck!

$10 per point seems to be the going rate at the DIS DVC Rent/Trade Board. You will see a few willing to rent their points for less, and a few who want more. I personally have had no problems offering $9.00 per point when I want to rent points, and finding owners willing to allow me to rent for that. July is considered the Magic Season, and I believe that a preferred view studio at BWV will run 14 points per night Monday through Thursday, and 32 points per night for Saturday and Sunday night stays, so 70 points for your 5 night Sun to Fri stay. If you post the week on the Rent/Trade Board, you might want to post it for $X for the entire 5 nights, rather than on a per night basis; decide what you want for the entire reservation, and then post it like that. You likely will find someone willing to pay $700 ($10 per point) for your entire reservation, which averages $100/night, considerally below your three posted options. If you post closer to July, when DVC resorts are close to sold out, you may find someone willing to pay more, but then you also run more of a risk of not selling your ressie and getting stuck with it. If you post your reservation elsewhere now, you might get one of your listed pricing options, but posters on the Rent/Trade Board are pretty saavy on knowing how points work and what they are worth.

Thank you for the tips. I guess I am hoping that since it is a reservation during a busy vacation week, that there are less "savings" options on property, and more of a chance of getting more per pt. for the reservation. At $10/pt., that would be $140 per night... which isn't far off of the lower end that I was thinking. Thank you again for the tips! :cheer2:

Or you could just cancel the ressie and use your points when you can go and free up the room for a fellow DVC member.
