What's Everyone making for Christmas Dinner?

I bought a prime rib tonight. I am not sure what else I will be making though.

Ha! I really am the worst mommy in the world!

I will be serving my children cinnamon rolls (from a tube) and orange juice (from a can) for Christmas breakfast.

For lunch they will get a shrimp cocktail ring (pre-made from the grocery store), Wheat Thins and Ritz crackers with cheeses (3 varieties- pre-sliced and from a can!), summer sausage (sigh-that one I will have to cut up myself), veggie tray (again, pre-purchased), clementines (which they can peel on their own) and a frozen pie. (One that you take out of the freezer, cut and serve- not the kind you take from the freezer & bake. After all, I will have already baked cinnamon rolls for breakfast!)

For dinner (if they aren't still full or sick from lunch and all the candy Santa will bring) I will open a can of spagettios, or if I'm feeling REALLY domestic, make a box of mac n'cheese or heat up a frozen pizza, and threaten their candy privileges until I see them consume fruits & veggies .

We just went shopping for our Christmas "Feast" today and DDs (5 & 6) were sooo excited about our purchases- they think it will be the best dinner ever! Again, I realize I am the WORST MOMMY IN THE WORLD. But I am going to be far to busy playing HSM Uno, Barbies, Webkinz, ponies, and figuring out their DS's for them, (and napping) to cook :)

Our Christmas dinner is the same every year, but we look forward to it:

Prime rib
Twice baked potatos (a lot of work but sooooo good)

Christmas Eve is a bit less traditional. Each memeber of the family got to pick their favorite thing to eat. The votes:

DH: Ribs
Me: Artichoke dip and red wine :thumbsup2
DD9: Ribs
DS7: Ribs
DS5: Cheese pizza

Should be an interesting meal:rotfl: .

Christmas eve: Lasagna, rolls, salad, cookies

Christmas breakfast: cinnamon rolls

Christmas Dinner: Prime Rib, twice baked potatoes, green been casserole, corn, rolls, turtle cheesecake and christmas cookies.

We don't do a Christmas dinner, we always used to go to MIL's & she did steaks on Christmas Eve w/potatoes, salad, etc. Then the next day, we'd have a big brunch at our house & just eat the leftovers when anyone gets hungry the rest of the day.

Now that we're away from family, I want to cook a prime rib on xmas eve w/potatoes, salad, rolls, pie. Same brunch as usual because DD14 is fussing when I mention leaving anything out. :rotfl: Ham, egg casserole, french toast casserole, rolls, fruit. DS6 says we need a cake to celebrate Jesus's bday so I guess we'll add one of those too.

I get to do Christmas Eve. As per my Step Mother's menu, she passed 5 years ago.(can't believe it's been that long)
We are having,
Shrimp Cocktail and misc. appies
Rib Roast
Shrimp Scampi
Possibly another main (Mom usually did turkey breast, Swedish meatballs, or Ham) I have a spiral ham in the fridge, but I don't think I can fit both a Rib roast and Ham in the oven together, I have one of those really old, small wall ovens.
Mashed Potatoes
Corn
Peas
Probably cream cheese crescent rolls
cheese cake
apple pie
ice cream
I think that's about it.
Donna

We are making (as a family), homemade cavetelli and sauce. My son is the chef in the family we just help him prep and clean up the mess!
We will have an appetizer and salad with this. Then I make homemade cheescake and homemade apple pie for dessert.

I don't think we have had anything else for Christmas dinner in YEARS, we look forward to this meal every year, it tastes incredible, and we have a lot of fun making it together!

Enjoy Christmas Everyone!

I normally make a pretty traditional Christmas dinner for 5 people....me, DH, DS, and my parents.

This year we've decided to take the work out of the day, so we're going to a local Chinese buffet which we all like. Everyone loves the idea, and there's no cooking or cleanup involved. :) I'm still going to have some type of dessert at home later that day.

Has anyone watched the movie "A Christmas Story"....the one where Ralphie begs for a Red Ryder BB gun? In that movie, the family ended up going out for Chinese food on Christmas, because a dog ate their turkey. :lmao:
