What's Everyone Doing for Valentine's Day?

i'm going to spain for a week! so ive told gary his plane ticket is his v-day pressie!

we're snowed in here... wednesdays are my usual day off and my DF has taken a personal day so we are going to hang out here and have a fire and watch movies! :goodvibes Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I wish you all a lovely Valentine's Day! My Valentine (DF) is working in FLA so we aren't together today. I am leaving late tomorrow night for FLA so we will hopefully celebrate Valentine's day on Sat. I am planning on cooking him dinner! Fingers crossed on how that will turn out!

Well I am cooking a 3 course meal at home. I love to cook:love:

For appetizer we are having Gruyere and Carmelised Onion Filo Tart.
For entree we are having Braised Beef with black truffles in a dark chocolate sauce with garlic dauphinoise potatoes and parsnips.
Side dishes are Caesar Parmeggiano Broccoli and Asparagus Spears
Baby Corn
Dessert is Plum and Almond Tart with Mulled Wine sauce
Cheesecake Brownie

We are also having Champagne and Chocolates.

I am so into it, I even set up the table with candles and confetti and even print out a menu as he hasn't a clue what we are having. I'm working today so we prob won't eat until 20.00.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day with loads of

Sounds delicious!! I love to cook too, but I cook all the time so going out is a real treat.
Have fun - that menu sounds amazing :goodvibes

 Happy Valentine's Day Everyone

Sadly nothing,
even with all this snow my school still didn't cancel itself so I'm on campus until 8:30pm this evening :(

We may go out to dinner next week instead.

Summer-Caitlin, I  LOVE to cook too-- but my menus are much more limited... I cant pronounce half the stuff on your menu much less try and make it!! LOL-- I wish I was more cultured in the fine art of cooking though.

I plan on making dinner for DH (like every other night). Probobly nothing TOO special.. just some dinner and American Idol :goodvibes My kinda fun!!

Summer- Your menu sounds fantastic! Especially the phylo and gruyère tarts! I am sure he will just love it! I would love some pointers for our dinner on Saturday. So far the menu is;
Grilled Calamari with a "special sauce" (Mayo, honey, garlic and ginger)
Shrimp Scampi with Linguini
But for dessert not too sure I was thinking chocolate covered straberries but I wanted something more special.....
Any of you DISers have any ideas?

popcorn::Just found out from the card attached to my pretty flowes that DH is taking me to Maggiano's and then to a movie, (Because I Said So)...looks cute(romantic comedy borderline chik-flick)!! He still knows how to make me happy after all these years!!! :cloud9:

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day!!!

SO sweet lisa!! Congrats to you!!

DH knows not to get me flowers-- they cost way too much money and they die too easily!! He used to buy me flowers like once a month or something-- I told him i like food better..:rotfl: (might not last as long as the flowers but by gosh you gotta have it anyway!).

I need some of you to give me some of these gourmet sounding recipes. I must live in eggs and bacon land over here...lol:rotfl:

Dessert is my favorite meal :goodvibes I am making DF chocolate bundles with chocolate ganache. The recipe is found here. I saw them prepared on a food network show last week and just had to make them! They are super-easy to make. To make it a little healthier use 60% cacao dark chocolate and milk instead of cream :wizard:

Jen-YOU ROCK
I am Downloading the receipe as we speak!!!! Thanks so much and Happy Valentine's day to you and your honey!!!!

Dont we all just love the Food Network? I could watch it for hours-- the only problem is I gain weight by watching it-- gotta lift that remote a few more times;)

Wish i had the food network - i love to cook but we dont get as many good programs here in the UK.

Garys cooking for me tonight as i wont be in till 7:30. Im planning on taking him to our favorite Italian restaurant at the weekend!

Seriously! It aggrivates me how unhealthy all their recipes are!

All of my friends say I should start a "healthy baking" show on the food network. I bake healthy stuff all the time and people cannot believe it's good for them. Oh well... maybe one day ;)

Jen, let me know if you do that.... you can employ me to take the trash out or something (ill even hold cue cards if needed;) )!! And then maybe if I eat what you cook I might shimmy down a couple 10 lbs or so!!

Well, for those of you that read my post yesterday, my fiance and I were supposed to go to Spoodles for dinner tonight.... But horrible timing prevented us from going :(

He called me on his way home from work to inform me that he was sick. Like probably sick with the flu with aches and pains and a fever. So instead of getting treated to a nice Disney dinner, I spent it at Walmart purchasing various beverages to keep him hydrated and then made a pot of homemade chicken soup. I just sent him to bed with a cup of theraflu.

I guess Spoodles wasn't meant to be tonight...maybe next weekend!

Hope everyone has a GREAT rest of Valentine's day!
