What's everybody buying their kids for Christmas this year - age 12 and up?

I've been looking at Christmas catalogs that are already arriving in droves in my mailbox and it looks like most of the toys are for little kids. My youngest two are 11 and will turn 12 a few days before Christmas. A boy and a girl. I also have a teenage son and an adult son and daughter living home. Just when I thought that buying gifts would be easier, it gets harder! :surfweb: I have no idea what to get! Anybody start yet?

I am trying to convince my kids to combine necessity with want and get laptops for both. They can be found pretty cheap on Black Friday, and it will keep them off mine. Plus, they can keep their homework on their own computer rather than clog up mine. So far, they are holding out for having lots of little things to open rather than one big thing each.

Christmas weekend at Wilderness Resort in WI Dells. :)

My cousins are 10 and 11 year old girls. The 11 year old wants legos and a wardrobe type of cabinate for her doll clothes. The 10 year old wants a pillow pet, real looking doll, and me to move back home... (and shes getting her moving wish early).

I have a 13 yr old boy that I have already bought a PS3 game, the Diary of a Whimpy Kid movie, a Snuggie and two Patriots shirts. I also plan on getting him the new Diary of a Whimpy Kid book (he already has the first 4 books)

Also on his list is a football, pajama pants, some BB guns, and a couple other things that I can't remember right now.

My other son is 15 and is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard to buy for this year. He has his own car that he bought with his own money (dad did chip in for 1/2 but it's still his lol) so he wants car parts.....rear shocks, dashboard, headliner, etc) He also wants this neon light sign on ebay. So we'll see how his Christmas pans out this year. LOL

I usually try to get them a "combined gift" as well. When they were younger, it was usually stuff like Rock Band or a gaming system. This year, I've been thinking of getting them a weight bench with some weights. They've been talking about that for a while now.

I really wish they were small again. Things were so much easier back then.

My 11 yr old daughter (almost 12)wants an Ipod touch and accessories, a desk chair, and a cat stroller ;) My 13 yr old son wants a laptop and Xbox games.
They will get these from us, and I think Grandma is looking into an Ipod dock for dd. She's getting ds Xbox point cards.
THey are both also getting the AmEx pass card that's being discussed here on the budget board.
I've got rewards and gift cards from promos in stores and surveys, etc.. that i've saved up throughout the year. Coupled with Black Friday deals I should do really good keeping costs down even though their 'wants' are getting more expensive!

Don't really know yet but I think my DS 12 will be asking for an airsoft gun, a year of access for on line play for his x box, another xbox controller, and I'm sure some star wars legos will still be on the list. Santa of course will fill in with some board game, star wars miniatures and other miscellaneous.

My DD 18 is probably getting a futon for her dorm room, and I'm sure some boots or shoes or purse or some thing she will have her eye on. And again various miscellaneous things. She really likes the Fossil purses so it is pretty easy to spend most of her allotment pretty quickly!!!

I am filling a dooney and bourke wristlet with gift cards! Mine is 16 and loves to shop, read books and eat out! I'm getting fun places like stone cold creamery, subway, Deb store, Barnes and Noble, Claires, and Deb store! I can also redeem points from my points for some!!!

My DD 12 out grew "toys" at a very early age. She never played with dolls. It has been difficult. My oldest DS 13 always wanted lego's but had now outgrown them. My only little guy is 9 and he has outgrown toys somewhat. they all want electronics. So this year they will all get TV's in their rooms. Let the flames begin. lol

they are very busy from the time they get up until after dinner around 7:30 or 8:00/ After that they want to chill and watch TV, I don't want to give up mine anymore and they all have different likes. so 3 TV's coming up.

DD13 never liked dolls, until she was 10. now, all she wants for Christmas is AG's felicity and elizabeth dolls! i told her, if she gets those, she may not get anything else!

My ds (13) wants a Compound Bow!:scared1: They are very expensive, but that is about all he says he wants! He has a laptop, x-box, ipod touch, etc! I have gotten him a Red Sox hoodie, a Snuggie, I Tunes gift card, and a Ipod dock/cd player stereo system for his room!:confused3 I really need some small gift ideas and stocking stuffer ideas??? He loves opening gifts, but with one expensive one, I need some small ideas also!:confused3

Oldest DS is 11, turning 12 in April. He has outgrown toys, and has pretty much everything I can think of. Inlaws always want to buy something big/nice. I think they are going to get him a bigger tv for his room, with the projected drop in price. Thinking about a docking station, radio for his iphone, but I'm not sure he would really want it. He got an xbox last year, so we will probably get him a few games. We should buy a smaller tree, because it's looking like the tree may be bare.

DS 4 is of course easier...but he has older son's and all of his toys to pick from.
I'm actually thinking of re-gifting some of older son's toys to younger son.

I;m gonna follow this tread to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

Maybe nothing! It may be a really cheap Christmas - my two boys (18 and 14) haven't said a word to each other since early this summer because of an argument (DS 14 was really at fault, but DS 18 didn't help the situation at all). We told them the other day that if they didn't make it up before Christmas, they wouldn't get any gifts from us. And we're going to hold them to it!

Otherwise, DS 14 will want video games and hoodies, and DS 18 -- gift cards to go out with friends and cash, probably.

My DD 12 has never been into dolls or anything of the like. She is actually saying there is nothing she wants. She seems to have most of the "must haves" for her age. Ipod touch, PSP, Playstation 2, Wii, DSi, laptop, etc. :rolleyes1 We even tried to "bribe" her with skittles last night for her to give us 2 items she wants. :rotfl: She got the skittles but we've yet to get the list of 2 items. :confused3 We've picked up a couple of things, like a snuggie, Kingdom Hearts game for the PS2, preordered Epic Mickey for the Wii for her, and a couple of movies. I think the "big" gift this year will be a blu-ray player with wifi, so she can watch netflix and you tube on her tv. :3dglasses

No flames here ;) We got our son a 22 inch flat screen last year for Christmas. He absolutely LOVES it!

DD is 16, and the one thing that she mentioned that she wants is a nice necklace. I posted (probably on the community board) that I didn't know what to get her that she would like- and the solution I'[m going with is to make her a dried pasta necklace - with a note that her and I will go shopping to pick out what she really wants.

Other than that-her stocking stuffer stuff is usually Breast Cancer Awareness office supplies (i.e. pencils, pens sharpies). We've been doing this for a couple of years now, and I really think she would be disappointed if we did something different than that for her stocking.

AND - we may get her a plane ticket to go visit a cousin that lives in the detroit area.

Dd13 asked for and is getting: Cirque tickets, North Face jacket, Loopz game, Rythym Nation DS game, Straighener, Curling iron, Ipod.

Dd19 refuses to give us a list! She has mentioned a wooden easel, so we will do that. Otherwise, I have no clue. I am thinking of a "money tree" and gift cards!

My DS will be 11 and I have NO clue what to get him for Christmas, plus the whole family will ask me to get him stuff from them.

Santa
DH & I
Grandparents
Aunts & Uncles

And they just don't get him 1 gift!!

He wants a game for his X-Box, I keep telling him I need more then that, he also doesn't play with toys anymore even legos which he loved he doesn't even play with.

DD will be 12 in Dec so its like hitting the lotto for her but hard for us because family give her gifts and then we have no clue what to buy her for x-mas.

This year she said she really wants an Ipod nano for her B-day( her B-day is before x-mas). We got that for her B-day and we got an ipod dock/cd player for x-mas. I have no idea what to get her for x-mas because she only had 3 things on her list ipod, itune cards and squinkies. As of today she took squinkies off her list. I guess it will depend what she gets from her b-day party.

I wanted to do a few $5-$10 giftcards to
-Jamba juice
-itunes
-Michaels craft store
-?
giftcards last her forever. She still has some from last years b-day-lol! She's a budget shopper

$15-$20 giftcard to
-Bath and Body works
-Claire's

$25 giftcard to
-disney gift card

wish Taco Bell had giftcards dd loves the fruitista drinks

Can you tell I have no clue what to get-lol!

I got a TV for Christmas when I was 8, I believe... It was "cool" because it had a built-in VHS. It didn't ruin me for life!

One things my parents swore I would never get was my own phone line. Oh, how they never saw cell phones coming...
:rotfl:
