What's D23 Expo?

Hi ... silly questions coming up.

I've seen D23 Expo mentioned on this forum and it sounds like many people are excited to attend. Curiosity speaking ... what is this event?

From my searches it sounds like it's a Disney Fan event and fans are "immersed" in Disney experiences? Sounds awesome if you're a huge Disney Fan (which we all are since we're all here on this forum! :-)).

Anyway ... is anyone able to elaborate/explain a bit please?

Also, since there's going to be a lot of Disney Fans in town for D23 what impact will this have on the Parks' attendance numbers? I'm trying to manage my expectations ... I expect it to be busier!!

I know this question has been asked and answered many times before but was wondering if any D23 Attendees would be able to share how they divide their time between the D23 Expo and the Parks.

I believe previous posters said that the parks would be busier but not so bad as we might think? I'm guessing that the Parks might be busier in the evening as I'm assuming attendees are busy during the daytime at D23 Expo?

Thanks for sharing! :-)

I went to D23 2015 and the parks were insanely busy after dark. So busy that I just walked around for a few and rode the train around the park a couple times. If you do go, make sure you get everything done that you want to do as early as you can. When the expo ends around 5-ish, literally everyone at the expo heads down to the parks.

If you go to the expo, be prepared to wait in non-stop lines. In 2015, the line to get into the Disney Store was 4+ hours. If you want to go to the bigger panels (live action/animation), you will have to wait in line overnight. You can get into the parks/resorts panel an hour or two before it starts as that isn't as popular as the movie panels.

In short, yes, it will make the whole resort area extremely busy and affect hotel rates and availability. If you want to go to D23 you need to dedicate a day. You will wait in lines to get in, possibly for hours. You will wait for hours if you want to buy anything and many booths and panels will have long waits, up to a few hours.

Thanks and wow! Must truly be fans to attend given the super long waits ... especially the waiting in lines to "buy" (ie. spend $$) part! :-)

Thanks! Again wow! Line up overnight?! That's dedication!! Unfortunately, we're there all of the days of the Expo so I'm going to really have to manage my expectations. :-)
