Hi all, I haven't heard much about the Captains Grille but the menu looks pretty good.

Would you recommend it as a good choice for dinner?

I'd love to hear your views on it :)

We love the Captains Grille. Its one of our favorite restaurants in WDW. There is a nice variety and the food is excellent. Definitely order the Pork Chop!

We have been to Capt's Grille each of our last 4 trips. We like the food and the atmosphere. It's especially nice to take a break there from either EPCOT or DHS. Our only complaint was they would not give us bread or rolls with our lunch. (We were not eating sandwiches.)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

We usually stay at the YC so we have been to the Captains Grille a few times. On our trip last year we had an ADR for Whispering Canyon planned for our last day in the parks - we planned to spend the day at MK and then head to the WL for dinner. When we woke up that morning it was cold and pouring rain, we decided to go to MK any way but knew we would end up wet and cold, so before we left for the day we cancled WCC and booked the Captains Grille for a late dinner - the only time we could get was 8:45!

After spending the day soaked we headed back to the YC around 6:30, took looong hot showers and headed down to the restaurant it was about 8:00. We checked in at CG, we asked if they could possibly seat us early - they said they would try and gave us a buzzer. We went to the lounge next door and ordered drinks, before our drinks were ready the buzzer was buzzing!

Dinner was awesome, I ordered the chefs special - I had the ceaser salad, crab cakes (YUM!!!) and cheesecake for dessert. DH ordered the steak - he said it was better that the one he had at LeCellier and DD just wanted buttered noodles (not on the menue but not a problem!) she also had the brownie kabob for dessert and was thrilled. We had a great waitress, she didn't rush us but was very attentive.

The theaming of this restaurant is nice, not over the top. I wouldn't say this was a dining "experience" like Coral Reef or LeCellier, but it is a very nice, relaxing restaurant. This is always our fall back place, we know we can almost always get a table here if we're having an off day and just need to crash.

I highly recommend the Captains Grille for good food, and good service!

It's quite the hidden gem!! It's my FAVORITE 1 credit meal. The crab cake is hands down the best one I've ever had, the crab legs are great, the pork chops are FANTASTIC!! Never over crowded which is nice :) I love the bread too!! I think Dave had the Caeser salad and he thought it was pretty good as well :)

7 weeks till I eat there again!!!

We had dinner there once, it was delish but I would not go out of my way to eat there...if we are staying in that area I would put it on my list

We had dinner there 2 years ago. It was very good. I would definately go back again.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Captain's Grille was good. It is a very pretty restaurant that has a nice, quiet atmosphere to it. Service was Excellent!! Food was pretty good as well. We enjoyed it, and while i wouldn't travel out of my way for it, if i was in the Epcot resort area hotels, i would make sure we visited it again.

ETA: They have a prix fix menu that includes an appetizer. It was a good deal.

We ate at the Captain's Grille twice this last trip. We enjoyed it so much we returned our last night. The crab legs were amazing! We had upgraded both our children to adults and have 4 platters of crab legs. It is our favorite place.

I agree. Captain's Grille works great when you return from the parks too tired to go anywhere else for dinner. You will receive a nice meal at somewhat, by Disney standards, reasonable prices. It serves its purpose as a standard, tasty hotel restaurant.

Can I get the prix fix menu that includes an appetizer while on the free dining plan? Do I have to pay for the appetizer since we do not get that onthe DP? We have dinner reservations here on Thanksgiving.

Yes you can get the prix fix menue and No you don't need to pay extra!
That's exactly what I had and it was awesome!

I think this is a great choice for Thanksgiving dinner!

I just wanted to add that you are not limited to the dessert choices on the prix fix menu (there are only 3) when you have the dining plan. We were told that we could get any dessert we wanted since any dessert would be covered by the plan. :goodvibes

The Captains Grille was the only place we ever went that we will NEVER go to again. I guess every place has a bad day and we must have gone their on it! The food was terrible, the wait at our table for the food was so long. We won't be back.

We had dinner there in August for the first time, one of the best meals we had in two weeks at Disney. We ate crab legs, crab cakes and chicken. Nice quite atomsphere, not rushed, good service....Good meal choice

Thanks for starting this thread - I was in the middle of making my ADR's for our March trip and completely stuck on where to have dinner the day we are at DHS. We dined at CG last year on one of our stays and it was one of the best meals (my steak at CG was actually better than my steak at Yachtsman's a few days prior.) And the desserts were really yummy. So I booked an early dinner - we can take a break from DHS and head back for Fantasmic (which we've somehow managed to miss the last 8 trips.)

I love the Captains Grille. Besides offering a decent menu and good food; I like that it is not sensory overload when eating there. After spending a week in WDW (as much as I love it) I find it refreshing to find a quite place without over the top theming. Some may not like it for that, but I love it for this reason. :thumbsup2

We do too. After reading this thread I can't wait
