My DH is a very plain eater, meat and potatoes are basically it for him. What is better for a plain eater for dinner, Kona Cafe or Grand Floridian Cafe?

I wanted to try Kona but feel like it might be too much for DH. I am sure if he orders a steak they can make it plain (without sauce)...right?

So...which is better for us, Kona or GF Cafe?

TIA,

Loralie

I feel your pain. I love to try different things. Hubby is a meat/potatoes (plain stuff) kinda guy. He will venture to tex/mex, chinese and Italian, but that is about it. He likes large portions with nothing fancy like sauces and frilly stuff on top(which he has to wonder if he is supposed to eat). Boring. He would be happy with counter service stuff.

I know that was not on your list to choose from, however I am a meat & potatoes person and like the menu for La Cellier in Epcot.(Steakhouse). Been there before & have had good meals... Strip steak, filet mignon, etc.. :thumbsup2

I'm a plain eater and I love the Kona Cafe. Some of my favorites here are the Caesar salad, sticky wings, terryaki beef, and sticky rice. I haven't dined at GF Cafe so I cant comapre.

Thank You, YUM! yes we also love Le Cellier and plan to go there too. I just wanted to try something different and wanted opinions on Kona or GF Cafe.

My picky DH would not eat any of those things. He loves beef but if it is Terryaki he wont eat it. He used to LOVE Caesar salad until he found out they put anchovies in it, now he won't touch it. He does not eat chicken so the sticky wings are out and I doubt he would try the rice. :sad2:

I was thinking that if we went there he could get a plain steak and maybe a regular salad and some sort of potatoes type of side dish. Anybody know if getting the food prepared plain is a problem? I would think it would be O.K. but I was just wondering if anybody has done this.

Thanks,

Loralie

They do have mashed potatoes, prime rib and medallions of filet mingon. Im sure you could get those plain.

I had to laugh at the comment about the rice. My DS is the pickiest person I know. He eats about 3 foods total, LOL! But he liked the sticky rice (plain white rice but a little sweet), so much we got him an order of that and he was thrilled. If he eats it, anyone can. ;)

the only kind of rice I like is steamed white...with soya sauce! I find that my favourite places are also basically the CS places...but I do love the 50's prime time cafe!
we had to decide not to stay at AKL since we would always have to go off proerty for me to eat! I'm a chicken fingers and fries girl really (and no spices in the chicken batter and no seasoning or skin on the fries!)...
I usually do okay at the liberty tree tavern too in MK...what I always do otherwise is get stuck having to order from the children's menu...he could always try that! :thumbsup2

I know that "classic" Caesar salad has anchovies in it, but I think that the vast majority of Caesars you get in restaurants don't. Since seafood is a common allergen and an issue for vegetarians the servers should know whether it's in there or not.
