Whats all the complaining about SSR?

I haven't seen SSR up close yet, but I remember similar negative reviews when Hilton Head first opened. Look at HH now! need i say more!

I agree that everyone is entitled to their personal opinions and those that differ from mine are welcome and appreciated.

I do agree that at times the critisms are not founded in fact though. I mean if you are not familar with Saratoga then how can you say the theming at SSR is off and offers nothing. Now if you are familar with Saratoga, NY and visit SSR and say the theming is on tract, but it does not appeal to you then that is a viable comment. At times and this happened at WL and AKL that some guests do not have a realistic view of what the theme should be.

I mean I guess to me some critisms are like saying I really do not like ice cream, but I go to an ice cream shop anyway then give my negative critisms.

Also if you know that the resort is a work in progress I don't see how you can critize the fact that construction is going on.

I don't expect SSR to appeal to everyone and that is the beauty of DVC there are choices.

I do remember once reading a review of Hilton Head DVC and someone stated that while it was a fun place they hated the fishing theme. Well the fact is that Hilton Head DVC is themed after a South Carolina Lowland Fishing lodge. So it would be kinda hard to avoid the fishing theme. :)

When I was at SSR during Member Homecoming I was chatting on the boat with a lady that was headed over to the Preview Center to meet with her guide. I asked her if she was going to add on at SSR.

She said...........No! I don't like horses! LOL They had horses there for the Founders Day parade but I guess she thought the Theming would include a working stable! LOL

Construction and Manure? I'd have to reconsider on that one!

I have to agree with the posts stating that it's nice to have a balanced view of various places in WDW. We had the chance to tour SSR the day before it opened and really, really liked what we saw. I look at it this way, I would rather be at any WDW resort -even if I didn't particularly like the decor or theming - than working any day of the week. Thank goodness we have all these choices in resorts. Everyone wins!!

We called a week ago to re-structure our Aug. trip & were thrilled to find availability at SSR. Our home resorts are OKW & HH, but we have stayed at every DVC resort, so a chance to experience SSR was "welcomed". When I was on the phone w/ MS, I asked DH if he wanted to try SSR & he reminded me that it was a resort under construction. So were aware of this issue before our stay, but more than willing to give this newest resort a try. Maybe I'll find time to use the spa services; DS(10) is eager to try the new pool; maybe we'll venture over to DD (which we normally don't do). We love trying new resorts because each one offers a different experience and it usually reminds us how much we love our "home".

Thanks for mentioning this. While looking at photos of the resort, I have been thinking the style may be NY, but the exterior color scheme looks VERY Floridian. Are such color schemes really used in decorating in Saratoga, NY?

As far as the colors, no, more the architecture itself. I did like the color scheme. I will have to take pictures of the track and some of downtown Saratoga and post them.

The Saratoga Race Track itself is white for the most part, with some red as well. The older homes do tend to have color, but not as they are in WDW. But I was impressed with all the little touches they had in the rooms, lobby, and common areas.

I too did not intend to say what others thought was wrong. But, the resort did just open, and will take time to grow and get things right. If the decor and look are not someones cup of tea, that is why there are so many resorts for us to chose from. But a lot of the comments did seem to unfairly slam the resort.

I have to admit, it was quite a rush to think about all the people who have bought into SSR, and we got to be there on its first night!!!
