im goin on my first 7 day western cruise this summer in july and i was wondering whats the best things to do during the cruise. i like to mostly do anything so any advice would be helpful...thanks!:boat: :thewave:

We have been on two western cruises with DCL. Our last cruise was with a large group of DIS folk (Cruisetoberfest 03). I highly recommend the scavenger hunt on Key West (Rent the little battery operated golf cart and cruise around the island) it was a blast! Sting Ray city is a must on Grand Cayman. On Cozumel I was first off the ship and busted over to the budget rental across the pier and picked up a jeep for around a hundren dollars and cruised around the island (we found some great off road paths just a few miles past Chakaunau beach). This being our third Disney cruise, I can't say enough about these three excursions with using the Disney options.

Stingray City in my opinion is not to be missed! Also Palo for Brunch. The rainforest room was really nice and relaxing too!

okwmeister can you explain to me how the scavenger hunt goes, like wut it is and just anything you know...thanks

I just came back over the weekend from the 7 day Western. I didn't do any excursions because of my girls being with me. I can't give you any advice as to what would be a must do but a must see would have to be the shows. Especially Disney Dreams. That was a great show

Hi ~ I just wanted to add that there is a thread on the "Cruise Meets" board for other 7/17/04 Western cruisers. Me, DH, DS and DS's best friend will be on the 7/17/04 Western. I just booked all of our excursions yesterday. It seems so REAL now!!! Let the countdown contiinue!!

Must dos that we loved:

Grand Cayman: Stingray city with Captain Marvins (within walking distance). My kids also got a kick out of going to Hell and loved holding turtles at the turtle farm. We hired a local taxi driver to take us.

Cozumel: Dolphin SWIM and snorkeling at Chankanaab park booked through shoretrips.com. $10.00 taxi ride each way.

Key West: Little Conch train got verrrry boring and hot. I would do the Trolley that you can get off and on. We regret not seeing the aquarium or pirate museums.... The butterfly farm was fun - not a trip hilight though. Key lime pie was interesting - glad I tried it.

We loved all of the shows. If your kids are young don't sit too near the front there are some Disney villans that appear and may scare little ones.

Hope this helps....

Has anyone done the Atlantas Deep Explorer on Grand Caymen? I am very interested in it even though it is quite pricy. Also, what about the Catamaran on Cozumel? I have done the eastern already, we are wanting to do the western. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Hey Raymond, NH hi from Nashua. We were on the 7 day Eastern in January with two separate families from Raymond. Small world.

Anyway, after reading mrsfuzzmo's trip report on the dune buggies in Cozumel we are going to try those when we go on the western next time. They sound like such a great time. cozumelhomes.com is the website if you are interested.

Good luck and have fun.

My Two must Do's:

Off the Ship: Stingray City (Using Capt Marvin)

On The Ship: Palo for Brunch and/or dinner

Jim

the family (and adult) cabarette shows. The family ones are between the dinner seatings - usually from 7:45 to 8:15. Usually very good shows. There are also the family game shows in Studio Sea going on at the same time (Mickey Mania, Walk the Plank, etc) that are also a lot of fun to watch or participate in.

PALO, PALO, PALO....we did Palo for Dinner and Brunch, FANTASTIC and a not too miss...

I wasn't too impressed with Stingray City, it was fun but kind of a let down.

Hercules is a RIOT a must not miss show....

Paradise BEACH in COZUMEL, skip all excursions and just go to Paradise beach, you will not be disappointed...wonderful place, on par with Castaway CAY if you ask me...but much cheaper...lol

Everything is free, snorkel equip, kayaks, water tramp and iceberg slide...10.00 deposit for each snorkel set, but you get it back...great service, they set up your loungers and umbrellas, not a crowded beach by no means...It's good to order a drink since everything else is free...we spent over 4 hours there and I have no regrets at all....It was a 15.00 cab ride for 4 from the boat...cheap...would have been at least 40-50 here in the states.
