When we were having our second son, I was dead set on Benjamin (we call him Ben or Benny, only Benjamin when he's in trouble). My DH wanted some other name which I can't seem to remember now but I made a compromise and told him he could give our son his middle name. Jokingly he said Bradshaw, for his favorite football player Terry Bradshaw from the Steelers. At first I was like no way and then it actually grew on me. So Benjamin Bradshaw and it was and we get lots of compliments on his name and not many people even realize that he is named after a Steeler, lol.
We had to make compromises too when naming our kids. I wanted to name my daughter Talya to go with my Russian background, but my husband said it would be too hard for others to pronounce, especially in school so he said we should name her Taylor because it is still similar. I chose the middle name Paige. For my son, my husband chose Reagan, after President Reagan, and I chose Chase for his middle name in keeping with the political theme.
