What's a "good deal?"

I just got back and posted our actual trip figures on another thread. We did US/IOA for two days, did the Titanic Experience and spent 8 days at Disney. Our total was just under $3000.

This is completely subjective, but I would consider $3000 for everything to be a good deal for a family of 3.

It is really subjective. We spent $3000 for a week (7 nights) for 4 Disney Adults and feel like we did it all! We drove down (12 hours, 2 hotel stays, gas, parking fees all included), stayed in a beautiful 1000 sq foot off site condo (a timeshare trade), had 4 day base tickets with waterparks & more from UT, ate a couple dinners offsite, but did some big Disney meals too (breakfast in condo, CS lunches most days, Chef Mickey's Breakfast, Akershus Princess Dinner, Hoop Dee Doo, 50s Prime Time Cafe). Got the discount Photopass. We did get free Sea World tickets from a Sea World supplier friend so didn't have to pay for those.

$3K sounds about right. I know we have different expenses (flying vs driving etc) but this is what I have figured out for us (2 adults, 1 child) -

$1705 Pop 8 nights / 5 day tix (no PH) / free QSDP
$600 DEN - MCO
$350 Universal 1 day w/lunch & transport
$200 kennel for our dog
$150 gas & hotel in Denver (early flight so we spend the night before)

that is $3005

We are planning on doing Kona for breakfast one day ($36-40) and Yak & Yeti for lunch (have some gift cards from survey sites but it would be about $60-70). We are not big souvenier buyers but I still budget around $100 in case DD wants a toy or two. I also pad our budget by a couple of hundred just in case - we might add a park day, might do another TS meal etc.

To round it off I have saved up $3500. I have a friend's brother who works for Universal and he might get us comp tixs or at a discount and the hotel in DEN might be a lot less (they are having some great sales right now). Still, I like to pad the budget and have $$ left over at the end of the trip - that is what happened on our last one and I just saved that for this trip :thumbsup2

What's your secret?? $2000 sounds great to me!

Free dining and staying at a value. This will be our last trip at that price point though. Having another baby in February so my current youngest will be over 3 by the next trip. Turning from a family of 5, one under 3, to a family of 6 isnt going to be good for our trip budget lol

we also drive down, and then park my car and use disney transportation. Not huge eaters so dining plan is plenty for us.

That still sounds like a great price for a family of 5 to travel 1000 miles.

my location never updated i guess lol we recently moved to NC, so much closer now! But we still drove from NJ. I agree it is a great price, no one ever believes me how cheap we can go for.
