What's a Dole Whip?

It's not technically ice cream...I think it is actually non-dairy.

non-dairy, but with casein. So if you are severely milk-intolerant, watch out.

I personally hated it. Tasted the way I imagine melted, pineapple-flavored, plastic would taste.

DH and DS liked it. Alas, they can't have it. Dole Whip helped us discover that *corn syrup solids* do not play well with their systems, either (along with corn syrup and HFCS). That was not a fun period of time for me.

Anyway, as to what are they....a bunch of chemicals combined together into a dry mix and then reconstituted with water and frozen into a soft serve. Some like it, some don't. Some can have it, some can't.

I find a little glass of pineapple juice to be much more refreshing, personally.

The dole whips are so good! If you like pineapple, it is the treat for you! Can't wait to get one on our next trip!

Ok, I'm pretty sure I've had them before. As it happens, I'm coming down with a sore throat now and I'm tempted to go get one! Thanks for all the descriptions and pictures!

It's pretty bland and synthetic-tasting to us. Adding extra pineapple juice and making it into a float doesn't help at all. Maybe swirling in the fake vanilla ice kream will make it better? :confused3

Here is what is in a Dole Whip.

Water*, Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Coconut Oil**, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Maltodextrin, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking), Corn Syrup Solids, Citric Acid, Sodium Caseinate (A Milk Derivative), Artificial Flavor, Potassium & Sodium Phosphate, Mono & Diglycerides, Artificial Color (Yellow 5 & 6), Soy Lecithin.

Not sure why they feel the need to add all those extra ingredients.

To beef the deliciousness :confused3

haha but seriously, I enjoyed them, and I will be having at least 2 in October. nom nom nom

Yeah, I've never heard of swirling the two flavors (but then, on my last trip to WDW, I didn't get a chance to stop for a Dole Whip). Sounds interesting, to be sure. I like Dole Whip Floats, but the lines, even inside Tiki Room, can get really slow. On the one hand, that line is always shorter, but because the outside line is always longer (or it seems to be), it has taken me over 20 minutes, on the inside line, sometimes. Not worth that wait.

A Dole Whip is quite possibly the second most amazing food item you can get in a theme park. Following after Butterbeer. :thumbsup2

I wish they would get rid of the Dole Whips and switch to Shave Ice. I really got hooked on those things in Kauai. Yes, Shave Ice with Pineapple syrup would be great.

I think if they got rid of Dole Whips there would be an uprising. There is even a wait time listed for the Dole Whip line on apps like MouseWait.

How about instead they have BOTH. I love shaved ice too. Kakigori in WDW is a fave. :)
