whatever happened to the king kong ride? i havent gone in years & me and my fh were going to take a day off & go to universal, but i dont see this ride on the list anymore. is king kong still there or is the ride gone?

also any general advise for universal for a young couple, is it worth the trip off wdw, any not to miss attractions, time saving tips, etc.

thanks.

the king kong ride, or kongfrontation, was closed about 2 or 3 years ago. now there is revenge of the mummy: the ride, which is a very cool roller coaster ride, no loops or anything, but very fun. its my favorite ride in universal.

I miss Kongfrontation but ROTM is the best attraction at studios IMO.

If you have enough time in your vacation to get over to studios or IOA it is worth it

Hi everyone!
You know, I love Revenge of the Mummy, but Universal made a mistake when they got rid of it. ROTM should've gone in to US, but in a different location and not as a replacement for Kong. I used to take people to Universal and give mini-tours to friends. The first ride we'd hit was Kong. I would take them next to BTTF or whatever was the next newest headliner at the time. It was a great introduction to the park and every single time I would take someone on it, they'd say something about how much they liked it. I remember one friend say, after we had ridden Kong and then BTTF, "Well, so far you're batting 1000!" People can say that it was outdated, but I don't think so.
It's sad, because Universal was pretty much built around that one ride. And, it was to Universal Studios what "It's a Small World" or "Pirates of the Carribean" is to Disney. "Small World" and "Pirates" will never be outdated. It's not the terchnology, but the experience.
Heck, I miss Hitchcock, too. It was better, IMHO, than Shrek. But, Shrek is cool too, especially if you're a fan of the movies. In the case of Hitckock, I guess I just hated to see it go.
I think I'll start another thread on attractions gone-by.
Thanks.

From what I understand the maintenance for Kong was costing too much. I think it was like the submarine ride in Disneyland where keeping it up was becoming just too expensive.
