Sorry - coukdnt figure out where else to post this question......

We arrive super early Sunday and we jnow our room won't be ready.
Plan on heading to the pool so im putting bathing suits in my carry on.
Mine has an underwire..... think ill run into an issue with TSA at the airport???
Should I just can my hopes of swimming & let the boys have all the fun while I explore??

No. TSA allows people headed to WDW to have bags filled with sharp pins (myself included), they don't care about an extra bra in your luggage. Just think about it, some people (not me :lmao:) manage to only have carry-ons when they travel. Presumably a female would need more than the bra she is wearing for a trip.

You'll be fine. Women wear underwire bras daily through airport security. Have fun!

Underwires are usually made of plastic now, not metal.

Aannnndddd duh. I forgot about the pin lanyards! Well stated!!

Thanks all!!

Just don't carry aerosol sunblock. That, they confiscate. I had a brand new can and an opened can in my carry on. They took the brand new can and said the opened one was fine.....I guess because there wasn't much left in it.

Not mine. They are tipped at the ends with plastic, but the rest of it is wire.

OP they don't really care about underwire anymore. From my experience it was a brief fling they had with caring about it but it seems to be done with now. And I'm sure they know what it looks like on the xray machine. :)

Aerosols are fine as long as they are in a can that is less than 3.4 oz. my husband takes a trail size shaving cream and hairspray and never have an issue with TSA.

Yeah I took a brand new can and an open can of full size sunblock. They kept the new because it was full. The can they let me keep was probably half full. We were going to AK the day we landed so we wanted sunblock. And i wasnt sure when wed get our luggage. I wasn't sure how much was left in the open can so I brought a new can too. So I donated a brand new $9 can yo the tsa lol

You were lucky. If the cans were over the size limit for carry-on, they both should have been confiscated. It doesn't matter how much was actually left in the container.

Seems hard to believe after more than a decade that people still have trouble with the liquids rule.

I haven't flown since 2001....so I'm not up on the liquid rules. I know they've gotten rid of some of the restrictions. I didn't think twice about bringing sunblock on my carry on. We had all of my daughters pins in her bag....that was ok.

This is why it is important that everyone read the TSA website before flying, especially if they haven't flown in awhile. It is the customer's responsibility to be "up" on the rules.

I'm not sure what pins have to do with aerosol sunscreen cans. As far as I know, pins cannot be used to make explosive devises.

Ok I'm done...this is supposed to be a place to NICELY share some helpful hints. You jump to being rude. I just made her aware that aerosol can be a problem....can. And I was surprised that pins were allowed because if your creative enough they can be dangerous too....just threw my thought out there. BUT....you know it all so go right ahead.

I didn't read rudeness in krazee's reply. It is true, we all need to know what the DS says. Full size cans of aerosol shouldn't have gotten through. You were lucky that the opened one was. Things have to be in containers marked as 100ml or less. Obviously some get away with it but it is good to know the rules.

Pins aren't a problem. Don't try to logic it out, that's impossible. Scissors under 4 inches are allowed (but nothing is 100% if you read the TSA info). Helpful to the flying seamstresses and scrapbookers out there but makes NO sense.

I remember being thoroughly patted down in the underwire area and having the steel toes in my shoes be a big concern (this was very shortly after 911 but the logic hasn't gotten better) but my 3" sharp tipped double ended hairpins, and I had nearing twenty in my waist length very thick hair, weren't a problem for them. The one thing (or 20) that I could've easily used as a weapon wasn't a problem. But steel embedded in my shoes was. Ok!

Don't reason it out, just know the current rules. :)

It is a fact that it is the customer's responsibility to understand rules and regulations of their selected mode of transportation. It's not rude...it's just stating a fact. I'll put it this way...would you get behind the wheel of a car without knowing the rules of the road? I don't think most people would, but it seems like a lot of people show up at the airport without looking at TSA regulations. I'm trying to help people avoid frustration at the airport by telling them to be prepared ahead of time.

I do agree that pins *could* be dangerous. But...really...just about everything you own *could* be dangerous if used in the wrong way. It's just that aerosol cans can easily be used to make explosives, and that is why they are not allowed. The reasoning behind allowing pins and not allowing aerosols is mutually exclusive.

I agree, that poster was in no way rude. All you have to do is check the TSA website, or even your airline's website for security rules. That is your responsibility; everyone should do so before flying, especially if they rarely travel. How anyone could not know the liquids rule is beyond me, but obviously it is possible.

Ok....maybe I was mistaken on tone...wording is everything. OP "sounded" condescending. But.....your all right. It is MY responsibilty. And I did look...But...they have changed things. They are starting to allow more so I didn't even think about it and thats my fault. Lesson learned.....But again, I mentioned only as an FYI not to start a war of words. I was giving advice, nothing more. That is what these boards are about....correct??

Ok, here's the issue guys (as I sit at my gate at MCO). The rules regarding carry on stuff when flying tend to change. It's sometimes hard to know what is going on if you don't fly often. And just about everything changed after 9-11! You can pretty much expect to get good, up to date info here, from our frequent fliers.

Sometimes it's hard to know even if you have read the rules. Last time we flew (march 2013) I was mad because I wanted something in my carry on(can't even remember what it was) and on the site you couldn't but on the sign in the airport u could (too late for me to put in my carry on). I've also found people like to start a war of words on these boards.

I can't agree with this. The BEST place to get reliable, up, to date information as to airport security rules is directly from the TSA website. Very easy to find and fast.
