"What?! You were RELAXED at Disney? NO WAY!"

Day two, evening – Hollywood Studios!

Okay, here’s my preface: I SHOULD have known better. Really. :worried: DH and I aren’t truly that interested in shows. We like rides, or interactive stuff; to sit through a 20 minute show doesn’t really do it for us. And DD scares easily. That was a big problem with DHS, as you will see. But I FELT we SHOULD go to the studios. I mean, we’re THERE, let’s take in as much as we can. :confused3 DD would like the Playhouse Disney show (with mickey / einsteins / handy manny / pooh), and we’d try to hit either Beauty and the Beast or Ariel while we’re there. Oh, and I thought the Muppets 3D would be a great intro experience for her before going to Philharmagic the next day.

So the plan was: after our mid day break, we were headed to DHS. :moped: We had a 5:20 dinner at Hollywood and Vine, on the Fantasmic dinner plan. [Remember I mentioned that DD scares easily? Yeah…. my sister went to Fantasmic years ago with her family (2 teenage daughters) and stressed how this is THE BEST show she has ever been to – including shows outside of Disney – THE BEST! We HAVE to go! ::yes:: – Again, I SHOULD have known better.:( ]

We got to DHS and strolled up to the board listing all the shows available in the next few hours. Granted, we only had a couple hours, but surely Ariel would sing to us… HOLD ON A MINUTE  … check the watch…. check the board…. the watch (5:05)…. the board (last show 4:50 / last show 5:00 / last show 4:45 / etc)… aw, mannnnn :sad2: ….. Okay, we need a new plan.

Refocus and head to Hollywood and Vine. I had some trepidation about the food, as the DIS boards seem to dis it (haha, get it?) quite frequently. :confused3 But we were pleasantly surprised! Perhaps it was the glowtini, but we had a lovely meal.

The choices were quite varied, and the desserts were to die for!

DD had a tinkerbell drink – but our waitress very kindly served it in a regular cup so we could take the souvenir cup home, clean and dry.

After dinner, we headed over to :3dglasses Muppets 3D – I knew the movie was older, so the quality of 3D would be less than the new movies, and DD would be less startled by it. Luckily, this was a success! She really did enjoy the movie, and at least didn’t run screaming from the theater. :lmao:

After that we had a little time to kill before our reserved seats @ Fantasmic, so we strolled around – Yikes! :scared1: What a confusing area! We were looking for the DISboards recommended “singing in the rain” umbrella – I knew it was in the “Streets of New York” area, but it took a while to find it. I’d love to give you directions, but all I can say is to turn at the San Francisco street scene,

follow the New York street to the end, and hang a left and walk until you see it on the corner.

We hit a couple dead ends trying to leave, but we made it to the front gate right in time for Fantasmic. :thumbsup2

Okay, so here is THE SHOW that we HAD to see. Hm, how to put this. Yes, it is a fantastic show. ::yes:: Really. The movie screens of mist were very cool. The story seemed vague if you hadn’t read about it before hand, but the PRODUCTION was really great. That being said, the moment Maleficent showed up :maleficen (about ¼ way into the show), DD shoved her head in my armpit and wouldn’t take it out until the boat of good guys / heroes / princesses circled around.

So would we do DHS again? You can probably guess my answer. :scared: Maybe when DD is a teenager… but not any time soon. That’s just us, though – I think it made it tougher because we had had such a great morning at AK and a little piece of me would have much rather another ½ day there. Also, the early close resulted in no shows after 5:00 (perhaps someone else could address whether this happens when the park closes later?); I’ll chalk this one up to a learning experience. :confused3

Next day: Magic Kingdom! :cool1:
