What would you (we) pay for New Transportation?

Buzzing.

I hear buzzing.

Someone else must have just landed on the wall.

Welcome to the board Mr. Walt. I'm really looking forward to your insights.

- prices (Admission, Hotel rooms, food, valet parking, trading pins, etc.) will keep getting bumped up at a rate that exceeds general inflation as long as the total revenue increases despite the reduced attendance/numbers purchased it may cause.

single day Ticket prices have been steadily rising at exactly the rate of inflation since 1989.

In fact they have only risen at a rate higher then inflation twice since Micheal Eisner took Charge.

I won't speak to the hotels or the food service, or anything else, because I don't have enough numbers to draw a conclusion.

Not that anything else you said was wrong, just pointing out.

< 7) The hotels on Hotel Plaza opted out of the WDW bus system because Mouse folks >
< wanted to charge them a ridiculous amount of $ (surprise, surprise) to receive the black > < smoke belching wagons with ridiculous terms of use. >

They also wanted Disney Back after the other Bus Service didnt work out the way they thought it would, Disney Refused, Hotel Plaza now is on its 4th Bus Company that runs the Service today.

Speaking of other bus companies around the property - have you noticed all those Mears busses lately. You know, the airport bus company that also runs all the busses for the Disney Cruise Line?

Just an observation. I think I'll read the latest thread about Disney outsourcing some of operations.

Air Larry! slides a root beer down the bar toward the Baron.

"I think I'll sit back and enjoy the new Walt and AV eye each other, trying to figure out if they knew one another 'back in the day.'"

Funny how the regular Joe Tourist and the Elitist DVC member (just kiddin' Q) think that what actually goes on behind Dopey's ears at TD is that a bunch of suits with Disney name tags ponder the real benefits to the guest of a monorail v. light rail, when in reality, they have Imagineers work their tails off designing new attractions, new shows, and new transportation options KNOWING that if they don't meet their 10/10 or EGAD 20%/20% rule, then that project will end up behind the mock-up of Western River Expedition.

Yuk, yuk. I guess the joke is on us.

"Pass me another root beer, barkeep. I'll be here for a spell."

I heard this rumor about two years ago. But since they haven't done it yet, I thought maybe there was nothing to it. I guess I was wrong. (hmmm. I think that's the first time ;) )

In the mean time I think I'll take that drink, Airlarry!!!

Man!! I wish I would have said that!!!

Fist off let me say that I am a Londoner, a city with its own major transport problems.

Ive been going to WDW now for 89 years and have seen the internal roads get more and more clogged up, simply because they dont factor in the cost of transport into new resort or park building. SImply shove a few more busses on the line....

It really doesnt matter if you are an on or off-site gurst. If youre staying ina hotel you should get transportation. Lets face it, no parks then the hotel is empty. Thats what I call "synergy" working. Off-site guest - the majority arrive by car & pay $7 for the privlilege of parking on a massive car lot. They must make a fortune off this.

When they built AK they had a fabulous opportunity to sort out the transportation problems and boobed big time. Wouldnt a "themed" train from, say EPCOT via Disney Studios added to the sense of going into the wilds? It couldve become an attraction in itself. Instread, more busses.

I hate the busses. They ruin the atmosphere. The bus park at TTC is embarassing. At the end of a wonderful day at the MK you stand around, panicking about getting onto a bus, often having to stand, getting thrown about. As a decent bus costs from £250,000 onwards ($400,000 odd?) + the drivers costs surely they couldve built the link by rail?

The Orlando area is nearing gridlock, and the Disney dream is being marred by the roads

They really need to sort this out. Their hotels have a "staying at Disney rate" of way over the going rate, so I think theyd better get on to this and sort it out. Before they announce any more resorts.
