If you were given ONE Box to send to yourself at WDW to make your trip easier, what would you pack?

The dimensions are: 12 x 12 x 5-1/2.

DON'T OVER PACK!!

Psssttt---this is really going to help me figure out what to pack in my box to myself! We will be flying down in the middle of September with two small children.

Do you think it's worth it??

This flat rate box is from the UPSP? I have read on these boards that most people ship via UPS or FEDEX because they are delivered directly to the resort, where as the USPS boxes get shipped to a sorting facility and could take longer to get to your resort.
Just wanted to pass this info along.

I am just picking a box size, but I am planning on shipping it via UPS. I heard that they are the ones that deliver directly to the resorts too. --Less chance of things getting lost. :)

Seems like an awfully small box for 7 days in Disney.

Do you wear the same items more than once?

lol---No, no, no. :) I thought I'd send a box ahead of time with stuff we don't want to pack. I've read about people doing it, but I don't know what people pack. I'm looking for ideas.

Well since nobody else has answered I'll give it a try:thumbsup2

1. diapers/swim pants if your kids are still wearing them.
2. Battery chargers for cell phone, camcorder, camera
3. Travel size shampoo, conditoner, soap
4. Meds (pepto, tums, allegery meds, etc)
5. Anything else that you keep saying to yourself "I can't forget to pack this"
6. Poncho's (see number 5)

Great ideas--I never thought of diapers! :)

I never thought about doing this. I might look into the prices for flat rate boxes.

A box that is about 10 lbs shipped from Western Wisconsin to WDW is about $11. I can handle that.

Another idea is to order some of the smaller items like shampoo and cond and diapers/wipes etc from gardengrocer.com and they deliver it to the resort. We did that last trip and it saved so much room in the suitcase. I was planning on sending things down for our trip in December because of the charging for baggage now. I have shipped stuff home before from Disney and sometimes it gets home before us! We always over pack too, and each time I try not too, but somehow it doesnt work.

Last visit, I saw a suggestion here to pack each days clothes in a ziploc bag, ex: t shirt, shorts, underwear, socks and then the kids can get dressed by themselves without asking a million questions. They just pull out a bag and put on what is in there. I even did it for my husband, lol!! it is like garanimals. It also helped know how many changes of clothes I had for each person.

I will be interested to see what all people ship down ahead of time.

I packed coffee and filters (there's never enough in the rooms), healthy snacks like almonds and raisins. And all of our clothes except what we put in our small carryon. Unless you really need a specific kind of shampoo, don't waste the space on things that the hotel already provides.

All of the things I put in the box, including OTC meds, I broke down into just the amount I thought we would need for the week and put them into the snack size ziplocks - it took up less space then leaving them in the orginal boxes/bottles. Even the snacks went into snack size ziplocks - then they were already to go into the back pack for each day. Clothes go put into gallon ziplocks and the air squeezed out. These layered very nicely into the box. However, the box can get heavy - fast - so keep lifting it to make sure you don't overpack if you want to keep the shipping cost down.

You may need sunscreen in September, that could go in your box and then just put a travel size tube in your carry on.

I, too, am curious to see what others pack. We are leaving in 2 weeks, so I am currently working on ours. So far, I have OTC meds, Conditioner (I only like one kind), breakfast and snack foods so we can keep the cost down on eating, ponchos and sunscreen. Don't know if that will help....

These all sound like great ideas. I was thinking of sending light snacks down. I have to get some prices from UPS first to see if it is really worth it.

I just brought our box to the UPS store today, it was about 20 lbs and cost $22 to ship, it will actually arrive about 5 days earlier than we will, so I hope they are OK with that. I wasn't sure.

Anyway, this is what I packed:

-swim diapers
-regular diapers
-wipes
-box of rice crispie bars
-other breakfast goodies like pop tarts, etc.
-beef jerkey snacks
-pediasures (2 packages)
-paper plates, napkins, utensils, disposable sippys
-disposable coffee cups with lids (DH likes to take his coffee with him when we head out to the parks)
-Several surprise bags of goodies/dollar store toys for the kids to receive from Tink each day

These items I am figuring will last us for the first half of our trip, the second half when we go to the Poly we are having Garden Grocer deliver some other items since we will have a refrigerator then...

Have fun!

Dr. Pepper for me and Mt. Dew for my husband. We both get tired of Coke and Sprite for 12 days

HAVE A GREAT TIME!

We've sent a box ahead of time every year. We send snack foods that might get crunched in our luggage. We also have Costco or Staples ship (free shipping) a case of water and a case of diet sprite. Works great. I would not ship any medicines just in case it gets lost. But if you need diaper and or formula shipping that would be great.

We've also been thinking about shipping a box to our resort. How do you go about it? Just get the address & off it goes? What if it beats us there? Will they just hold it for us? We've got 2 2-year-olds & shipping a bunch of their gear would be SO helpful!

I usually ship mine down about 6 days ahead of time because the UPS folks say it takes 5 to 7 days. It is always there when we get there. I've never even asked for it actually. They just bring it up to the room after we arrive. I ship it to the resort in care of me. I always put somewhere on the box other than the label "For guests arriving 8-8-08"

Never had any trouble at all. Just be careful shipping drinks as they get heavy in a hurry. Costco will ship water and maybe even soft drinks to Disney without any shipping charges.
