What would you ship down ahead of time??

Will be arriving Aug 27th at POP and intend to ship one box. Does both UPS and Fedex both have flat rate boxes? I hope to ship:
snacks
meds
tolietries
ziplocks
We are hoping to pack for 10 days with just carry ons. Dh, Ds6, and me! We will see!!!;)

FedEx and UPS do not have Flate Rate boxes, they charge by weight and size of the box. We use UPS and their web site will tell you the cost and exactly how many days it takes from your zip-code to the resort's...and they say it's guaranteed (check out this link:https://wwwapps.ups.com/ctc/request?loc=en_US.

I'm not sure how the cost stacks up with the Flat Rate box but I have found UPS to be very reliable and the tracking I know is much better than the Post Office.

If cost is an issue I've found a couple of ways to save a couple of bucks with UPS.

1. Find out the nearest UPS drop off location. I have a Staples store within two mile from my house and they are a UPS drop off center. You avoid a pickup charge this way.

2 Even better, if your employer uses UPS see if you can use their account and reimburse them. Most companies not only pay cheaper list rates than the general public but they also have discounts too.

We usually ship towels, clothes, snacks, diapers and toiletries(we double zip-lock bag these in case they leak).

Also a good way to format your address label:

Hotel Name
street address
Guest Name:.......... Arrival Date:...........
reservation #
City, State, Zip

DS is 4 so we obviously don't have this problem anymore but I just said to DH that if we had a child in diapers, I would definitely ship them down ahead of time. They take up sooo much room! Wipes also. The way we used to go through wipes we would need a whole separate suitcase!

Now I do not have a little one anymore DS 15yo:rotfl2: but It still helps to ship the basics.

1. Breakfest Items, savaes on buying breakfest every morining( pop tarts, ceral and snack bars)
2. This one I never for get socks!:worship: , If you change them once a day It will save your feet, and depending on how big you box will be shoes, getting Into a fresh pair of shoes will feel so good midway during the day.
3. Ponchos(the disposal ones are not the best).
These are just a few, i hope they help

We are staying in a villa with DH, self, DS 3, DD 1, and my DM (mom). I am going to place an order with gardengrocer.com for all the perishables we will need for the fridge. Because my Mom isn't traveling with us & the kids, she is going to take an extra suitcase with all our non-perishables, but this is what I'd be shipping otherwise.

Diapers, pull ups, wipes, swim diapers, coffee & filters, juice boxes (will freeze them to bring to the park) cooler & freezer packs, bagels (i wouldn't ship this one), box of cereal, goldfish crackers, wheat thins, fruit cups and applesauce cups, fruit leather, trail mix, syrup, wine in a cube (just discovered this on another thread. I tried the Three Thieves Bandit pinot grigio and thought it was OK. I will try this next).

Here is what I'm ordering from gardengrocer.com
Pepsi, OJ, case of Water (may buy from costco?) milk, eggos, butter, lifeway kefir, yobaby yogurt, bananas, watermelon, kaukauna port wine cheese, BEER!

HTH - I helped me to type it all out!

I'm starting to get my box ready...how far ahead do you think I need to send it?

Thats what I was wondering. I'm trying to decide if its still too early for me to ship mine
