at Christmas time in Disney? This is going to be our first time going at Christmas time and as DVC members! We are going the 2nd week of Dec. and it is going to be a total surprise to the kids:goodvibes (I hope) I have very nosy children:upsidedow What would you recommend?

Thanks!

the Osborne lights were just amazing. I'd say that is a must do for sure.

The Candlelight Processional at EP, it is one of the most moving shows of the Christmas season for me. A 400 member chior sings Christmas carols with the 50 piece Disney Orchestra and a celebrity narrator reads the Christmas Story from the Gospel according to Luke. If you are doing the dining plan you may want to look at doing a Candlelight Processional dinner package which gets you a reserved seat at one of the three nightly shows. I also enjoy Christmas Around the World at EP, Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at HS, and the decorations and WL and GF. GF has a life size gingerbread house that they sell cookies and hot chocolate out of. MK and EP have Christmas Tree lighting ceremonies each night at 5:30 or 6:00 PM with characters and carols. It is definately a Magical time to go. We'll be there too!!!:santa:

The decorations in the resorts and villas. We typically stay at VWL, but will make sure to see the decorations at other resorts (especially the Epcot area resorts).

CP is amazing would recommend that, but also just taking time and visiting the Resorts, the decorations are amazing. Shawnpirate:

The Osborne lights, VWL decorations, MVMCP (go during the week for less crowds) and of course that spectacular castle. LOVE IT. We also like to stop by GF to see the gingerbread house and enjoyed venturing out the back gates at EC to see the chocolate/gingerbread carousel at BCV. Oh and Yacht Club has the train too. :thumbsup2

What great ideas! I can't wait:goodvibes The CP sounds wonderful, but I am not sure how well my son will do. He is autistic so he doesn't do well sitting or being quit for very long. He has to have a lot of action going on around to keep his attention :) I know he would LOVE the Osbourne lights! Thank you so much and stopping by GF will be so easy to see on our way "home":lovestruc

I agree that the CP may be a little too much for your little boy- but at MVMCP at the Magic Kingdom, there are many events that are so worth the extra ticket price. My kids (8 & 12) were able to ride rides with no wait over and over again. Also, there was a cute stage show (Mickey's Night Before Christmas i think was the name) that wasn't too long, had lots of songs and dance to keep kids attention and really put us in the spirit. Hot cocoa, dance party, fireworks and the parade were also highlights of the night. I would really recommend it even though there is an extra charge. It's just magical everywhere at Christmas time at Disney, so no matter what you do- you will enjoy!

Christmas Party, no doubt about it. We wanted to do the CP but my kids would never enjoy something like that at their age. Maybe later, but for me I know if I'm in Disney at Christmas time, I will not miss MVMCP. Nothing like having the park practically to yourselves! We rode the Barnstormer 5x in a row and had to get off only because we were so dizzy! LOL It was great.

My kids ages 18, 15 and 10 loved doing the MVMCP again this past Nov. We did it in Nov. 07 too. It is worth the extra ticket price. :thumbsup2

Our must see is definitely the Osborne Lights @ HS. It was AMAXING!

As far as the CP - we'll skip that. We saw it once and frankly we we're bored to tears. Everything sounded the same... LOUD. But to each their own.

popcorn:: Subscribing since we are going for our first WDW Christmas 12/18-12/26 VWL/AKV split stay.

MVMCP is out as the last night is the 18th -- we will be too exhausted from travelling across country to go our first night. Still thinking about CP but definately want to do an Illuminations cruise, DHS lights and everything! :santa:

In 20007..we did the Christmas party the day after we had arrived the night before. It was perfect. We slept in, then took our time getting out of the villa. We ate lunch at DTD then headed to MK early because we had AP's. THIS past trip we went to the party the day we got in. We had all been up since 5:30 and and we had a good time but we were DAWG TIRED by the end of the night.

Osborne Lights---- No question! Honestly brought me to tears!!

AND visiting all of the resorts--- absolutely beautiful!!

Have Fun!!

We are travelling from about as far away as you can be and still be in the continental U.S. so I would have a mutiny on my hands if I tried a trip to MK for a party. Maybe another year because it sounds like fun.

Does WDW have special Christmas treats like the mint hot chocolate and candy canes that DL does?

ON party nights they have regular hot chocolate and sugar type cookies. There are stations all over the kingdom. :thumbsup2

Yeah if we ever did a party again...it would be in the same manner we did the one in 2007.
