What would you make of this?

Okay kind of nosy neighbor thing. My neighbor next door has 2 kids a little younger than mine. They play together pretty often, catch the bus together etc. We don't know each other well but talk some and the kids go back and forth between the houses.

Yesterday after the bus left (without neighbor kids) there were about 3 police cars and a locksmith next door. I saw the husband talking to them some. No sirens or anything, just in the yard and talking to each other. Thought maybe something had been broken into or something.

I was thinking of calling but hadn't. The girls got home today, youngest DD wanted to go next door because the kids haven't been at school this week at all. A little more concerned but not sure they should be going over there. I notice 2 police cars pull up and go to the house. No one was home but they stood in the street so I decided what the heck and went and asked them if everything was okay. They said they just needed to talk with the husband, I told them of our concern for the kids and they said they are gone with Mom for a week or so.

Very strange all the way around.

Hmmm, I have no idea what to make of it (maybe the wife has run away with the kids, but who knows), but I think I would be really curious too.

Sounds like a separation may be in the works or mom took the kids without telling the dad or the dad has done something and is trying to protect everyone.

My dad came home from work once - mom and my brother were outside, I was staying at my cousin's cause her folks were gone and she didn't want to be alone (I was 17) - went into the house, closed the garage door and went around and locked all the doors. In essence, he locked my mom and my brother out of the house. He claimed that he didn't think they were home, although they were in the front yard and could plainly see him when he came home. Well, mom went to the neighbors and called the cops. My dad was violent over the years to my mom and she wasn't risking anything and had had it. Cops brought her and my brother to my cousin's house and then went back to our house to tell my dad that he needed to get some things and leave and not come back until he was told he could.

So my guess is there is some sort of family disturbance going on. It's good that you are wondering about the kids' safety though!
