What would you like in a FP+ cancellation thread

IMO, the thread should be moderated so it's not about posting times they see (b/c I agree that that isn't extremely helpful) - but that it is solely for people cancelling their FP+ and wishing to coordinate with someone else.
I think that would be a good suggestion. It would also be nice if people reported back if their "exchange" was successful as yours was. I'd love to be proven wrong about the effectiveness of the process. You have told us that it worked for you. Unless I missed it, I haven't seen a single "Got It!! Thanks!" posted in the September thread the way one sees in the ADR threads, causing me to question the utility. But like I said, I'm not trying to throw cold water on this. I'd love to see it work and it would help if people reported back on their success.

Okay, I have been asking for days for someone to start a thread for November but no response
I am trying to hold off for other members of the Dis but really want another FP+
So I have A&E I need to unload for Early Nov

Why don't you start the November a November thread. Just copy the opening post from past cancellation threads :)

FWIW, I handed off 12 Frank Oz FP+s successfully to other DISers, without a single failure, and those FP+s were in even shorter supply than A&E FP+s. So it's definitely possible to coordinate and hand off successfully.

Would it be possible - and helpful - to establish one FastPass+ Release Announcements | Released Notices thread that introduced forms much like the ones illustrated below. Explained them. And provided instructions for their completion.

Members would then be presented with the forms by replying to the thread. Once chosen, completed and submitted, the appropriate individual Release Announcements | Released Notices would then be automatically sorted and displayed within the thread like so:

1st - By Park
2nd ---- By Attraction
3rd -------- By FastPass+ Date
4th ----------- By FastPass+ Time

Note that the forms would not permit comment. Members would, however, be given the option of offering to coordinate the Release | Pick-Up of a FastPass+ with another Member, privately, by selecting 'YES' from that form's last drop-down menu. Hopefully, the selection of 'NO' would be respected.

Too, the Member submitting the Release Announcement would have the option (via a 'Withdraw' - as opposed to an 'Edit' - button) to remove it from the thead at any time. The Member could then submit a new - or corrected - Release Announcement if they wished.

Finally, Release Announcements would be 'tickled' by their Release Date/Time to drop off the thread at its passing. The Released Notices could be 'tickled' to disappear 24 hours after their posting.

Now, I am far from tech-savvy. So I have no idea - given the site's resources - if this is possible. But it seems to me that, if it is feasible, the use of such forms would have several very apparent benefits. Not the least of which would be that, once established, the thread would require little - to no - oversight.

Grandma G it would be Admin that would have to commit to that type of resources on the main wdwinfo site.
For the moment threads have to work within the operation of the board/forum software.

Thank you, Cyrano. I thought that my imagined forms might be a little too ambitious ... :)

But, after spending some time this evening with the Restaurant Forum's Cancelled ADR Threads, I do think that even a very simple Fill-In-The-Blank (or Text Box) Form would help a great deal to present the information in the posts more ... uniformly. Making the threads much easier to scan and search efficiently and accurately.

For instance, the opening post of a November FastPass+ Cancellation Thread might look like this:

Members: Please complete each line of the following form (contained in the Quote section of your reply). Please do not add any other text or comment to your reply. Please help to keep this thread current by returning to erase and replace the contents of your post with the word - Completed - 24 to 48 hours after your FastPass+ has been released.

  • PARK -
  • ATTRACTION -
  • FastPass+ DATE -
  • FastPass+ TIME -
  • FastPass+ RELEASED/PENDING RELEASE DATE and TIME -
  • PM to COORDINATE PENDING RELEASE and PICK-UP (YES or NO) -
  • PM to COORDINATE TRADE FOR (ATTRACTION NAME, DATE and TIME) -

I will answer this one for now. TPAS has a number of sub-forums - doing the happy dance, special promotions, community. I do not think FP+ cancellation needs a sub forum. I suspect that posters would still post on the main board as the sub-forum have their own communities.
The main board just needs thread(s) that suits folks trip planning purposes :)

My suggestion would be to do 'em just like the ADR threads on the dining boards. Strictly posting cancelation notices but no requests. People can certainly coordinate once a cancellation notice has been posted, but I wouldn't want to see threads bogged down with "anybody go a 11am 7DMT FP+ for 9/10?" type posts.

Anyways, it would be nice to have links to them all in a single sticky thread on the main board like the Dining board has. Given how popular TPA&S is, threads can get off the main page in an hour and that can make it difficult to find them at times. Perhaps also posting the Moderators' agreed upon rules for cancelation threads in that sticky would also be helpful for those unfamiliar with the cancelation threads.
