What would you have done?

Same thing I did this past summer with my 3 year old and with my kids all the time since being potty trained.
Sounds ruff but if you can't hold it, your pants are the only option.
You WILL wait til we get to a toilet (the only exception is road trips where we utilize the bottle!)
It should not have been TOO long since they've last gone if I've doin my job and even if they're about to burst- wait for a toilet or burst it is.

My 3 year old DID have an accident at Epcot this summer- and was just uncomfortable in soggy pants until we left.

Such is the life of someone learning to control their bladder.

Where pull ups even available 18 years ago?

Yes, they were. We used them with DD20 when we started training her, 18 years ago! (I'm sure she loves me sharing this stuff publically. :rotfl: )

She was upset the first time she had a "mistake" in them, and we tried to calm her down by saying, "It's OK, sometimes we make mistakes." After that, she always informed us when she'd had a mishap by saying, "Excuse me, sometimes we make mistakes!" :)

We always hit the bathrooms before we leave the parks, especially on busy days. Never Ever should anyone relieve them selves in public. I would have fought my way back to the park if I had to. Like a poster said. I would have known better than to post this question on this board.

Veryyyy good question. Haha. Not so sure what I would do..

Ok. The obvious answer is to prevent the problem by planning ahead. Make sure to use the restroom ahead of time.

But given the scenario of being stuck somewhere where you cannot physically get to a bathroom you have one of two choices:

1. Let your child pull down their pants and pee/poop right there.

2. Let them wet/poop their pants. (hopefully at least while trying to make it to a bathroom)

Honestly, the only acceptable answer is the second one. A least that limits the impact toward other guests at Disney as most of the mess will be absorbed/contained in the child's clothing.

Choosing the first option is a selfish choice to leave all of your mess for someone else to deal with and run away like it didn't happen.

So, if it was wall to wall guests, did the OP just pull down his pants and let him urinate on other people?:sad2:

Back when I was a kid, if we were at Disney at closing time, my parents would have sat on a bench and waited until the crowds thinned a bit before even attempting to leave, so we would have had ample to go to the bathroom before heading for the ferry or monorail. I think they had a great idea and plan to do the same (wait for crowds to thin) if/when we are ever at Disney at closing time with our kid.

In the OP's situation, if there was *any way at all* to shuffle over to a trash can or a shrub, I probably wouldn't be too offended if he'd peed over there. If the kid pees his pants and then sits on the monorail, isn't he befouling up the seat for the next unfortuante guest, or do boys' pee just stay on the front of their trousers?

Ok I'm too curious now, I know what we assume the OP did, but really OP what DID you do?

Again, if you know anything about this board and have carefully read this thread, you KNOW what the OP did.

I feel compelled to point something out, since this issue seems like such a big deal to folks...
While it is true that WDW is in the U.S., and also true that in the U.S. we have a general cultural rule that people must use an official rest room at all times, the simple truth is that outside of the US and Canada that is NOT the norm.
I lived in Europe for several years and have travelled extensively. I can attest to the fact that it is perfectly acceptable in most of the world to "go" outside when needed. To be honest, many people aren't even that discreet about it.
Just throwing that info out there...

Assuming this is true and you are not stirring things up there, I am happy to live in a place that is more civilized rather than people whipping it out and peeing everywhere.

;)

I just want to see if he will admit it or can 'recall' what happened 18 years ago in this very real situation that is not made up at all.

I would have hung back and watched all the foolish people crushed together like cattle, and then tried to leave once the crowd died down. However, if I somehow lost my mind and got stuck in that crowd, I would have done my best to work my way back through the crowd to a restroom. If the child had an accident, I would have felt bad for him but I certainly wouldn't let him intentionally unrinate in public - especially in such close quarters with other people!:scared1:

. . . which is one reason I am very thankful that WDW is in the US, since that means such behavior is most certainly not acceptable there. :) And now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure that it's more than just a "general culture rule". I seem to remember hearing about people being arrested for urinating in public in this country before.

Ok, how bout this......kill two birds with one stone......

To solve the full bladder problem, as well as the crowd issue...

Have the kid pee a path to the monorail...... the crowds will instinctively step aside as they see your kid approach, and you'll board the monorail and get to your destination in a timely manner.
