Hey everyone. A friend and I are giong in April. We are Canadians and the dollar is really good right now. I'm considering buying our tickets (via ticketmania via mousesavers) now while the dollar is so good. My only fear is that any special that comes out for April will be a package and that we'll already have our tickets so we can't get in on this. So here is my question, would you

A) Go ahead and buy the tickets and book the hotel now. Hope for a room only rate to come up and change your reservation to that. (I can use the deposit I pay for the room now to the room only discount if I change it in a few months time right?)

or

B) Hold out and hope for a package (Canadian or otherwise) and change the money up now and leave it in the bank? And send any type of deposit by other means than a credit card?

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

You could always buy a value package now and take advantage of the exchange rate. If some great deals come out, then you could apply what you have paid to upgrade to a moderate or deluxe to take advantage of a deal...just a thought.
Good luck!

Being a Canadian too I would wait till close to the end of October and wait to see if the VISA deal comes again. That is a great deal and could save you lots. Next with the money exchange, I would change half my money now and see what happens in a few weeks. Rumour has it the Can.$ is suppose to get even better (if it can) closer to December.

I am also a Canadian about to purchase my tickets, but your comment about the "VISA deal" piqued my curiosity.....

I know Americans can get a deal using a particular VISA credit card, but that is the only "VISA" deal that I am aware of.......Just when you think you have thought of all the angles, someone on this Board throws you more info. :cool1: :disrocks:

Could you let me know more details about the one you referred to?

Thanks a lot!

It's like a visa at par. You must put all the deposit and the whole bill on your visa and you get a deal. I first was introduced to the deal 2 years ago when I got my visa bill. You get a code and when you book your trip through disney or caa you use the code and get the discount. Rules: You must be a canadian citizen, living in Canada with a canadian address and drivers license. When you order the package they ask you for all this and they must have a machine that let's them know were canadians. The first year and last we got park tickets with all the extras (park hopper, water parks, disney quest all together and the nights stay with having to stay at least 3 nights. The first year it cost us a family of 5, the youngest was free with being 2, 1100.00 CAN. Last year it cost us 1400.00 CAN because the youngest was 3 and we stayed at POR instead of ASM, also we stayed a extra night. This year I was talking to my agent at CAA, and she thinks the tickets are going to be different because of the new ticket way with Disney and all the other packages she said that have been out since, the tickets have changed. Usually the deal comes out around the first of Oct. and you must put a deposit down by the end of Oct. The remaining balance is due in Dec. You only have from Jan. to March to take the trip. The first year I booked it through Disney and ended up with a CM who didn't know how to book (they billed my visa 4 times and I ended up with no visa for x-mas, they maxed my card out) so last Feb. I booked through CAA and had no problems. Still the same $ but with less confusion.

Any more questions please ask
