Have a double cruise booked next January to celebrate turning 29 for the 9th time.

5 night Disney Destiny in an inside cabin with stops at Nassau and Lookout Lighthouse Cay Point Thing
8 night Allure of the Seas in an inside cabin with stops at San Juan, St Thomas, Sint Martin and Coco Cay with a less than perfect day (I have something in common with Anakin)

Cruise 2 is with extended family and right now things line up that I will leave Disney terminal 1* and go to Royal Caribbean terminal 1* on the same day and have to wait.

I could change the 5 night Destiny to a 4 night Dream and be able to hang out in Fort Lauderdale (likely Sawgrass/Sunrise) with the extended family the day they fly in. The difference in cost could allow me to upgrade the Allure sailing to a balcony and the hotel room in Sunrise. Instead of feeling like I am the 2nd class citizen of the family group in the inside cabin.

The Dream was/has been/kinda still is my Dream Disney ship to sail on. Since I started wistfully looking at them circa 2014/2015. The Dream is a Cay Point and Castaway stop only. But it is one day less of Mickey and friends. The Destiny with its superhero theme and dinner shows and lounges really appeals to what I like most about Disney.

*I don't actually know the terminal numbers but do know that both ships will be using the companies primary terminals that day and neither ship will be at an auxiliary terminal.

I would pick the Destiny! But the Dream is my least favourite Disney ship.

I would say Dream. Castaway is better than Nassau. The adult areas only are better on Dream/Fantasy than Triton class. Plus you can upgrade on your longer 2nd cruise. Just book a placeholder on Disney ship and use that for a future Destiny or Treasure sailing.

I'm usually in the 'longer is better' camp but for your case, I think I'd actually swap to the Dream. It sounds like you aren't entirely happy with your inside cabin, and being able to upgrade an 8 day long cruise seems like it could make a big difference to your overall vacation. Also, I don't know how often you see this extended family group but it sounds like a nicer way to kick off the trip with them to be able to meet them when they arrive. And +1 to Castaway being way better than Nassau (or Lighthouse, IMHO).

I love the Dream (it's my favorite ship, and actually sailing on the Dream next month). However, I am looking forward to doing the Destiny in Fall 2026
