What would you do?

I would go for any DVC over value room any day. A split stay may be nice for you to try 2 different DVC resorts.

Well the BLT reservation went to someone else :( and nothing else lines up right besides OKW. So now, it’s OKW or POP. The OKW reservation (if we go for it and is available is now cheaper than our POP reservation)
This would be a tough one for me. The studios at OKW are great. Two real beds, the kitchenette, more space to move about. And cheaper than POP! The downside is that you would have to take the bus everywhere. The rooms at POP are actually pretty decent since the renovation. They have lots of storage space now. You would be on the skyliner, so for the days you are at HS and EP, it would just be a quick skyliner trip back to the room.

In regards to the split stays, Disney is still moving your luggage for you. Some people just don't like packing up and moving mid-trip. We don't mind it, but I get why some don't like to do it.

If you do end up doing a split stay, you could go to the pool area of your "new" resort and grab some lounger chairs in the back (as far away from the pool as possible) and try to get the little one to nap there if your new room isn't ready come nap time. We actually do this ourselves as two adults. :)

Good luck with getting some good reservations!

The new debate is:

SSR and BLT split for about 1450
SSR and BW split for about 1260
Or
SSR and Poly for about 1360.

ive never stayed at Poly before but I know construction is happening there so idk if now is the best time to try Poly

How important is MK proximity for you versus HS and Epcot proximity?

I would go for the split stay, but then again I haven't been with a small child. If your child needs a nap in the room, you could be without a room for many hours on moving day.

Old Key West has my heart so it's a no brainer for me, but I've also stayed at BLT and loved the proximity to MK and dining at the Contemporary and the nearby resorts.

I wouldn't do a split stay with a baby. It was hard enough in September with my older children. Just a hassle to pack everything up.

I'd honestly stay at Pop. We just stayed at OKW first week of December and while the buses came quickly it took a long time to do the whole loop to get out of the resort. I really loved the room as it was very large but the transportation advantage at Pop right now seems too good to pass on.

If your budget allows, I would go for the SSR/BLT split. Being able to walk or monorail to MK is awesome!

MK will likely be 4 out of our 7 days at disney. The only wrinkle is whether we will splurge and get park hopper in order to hop to Epcot in the evenings or not. Last time we stayed at BLT we didn’t have hopper and it was perfect but kid is a bit older this trip and can probably stay up later

Just remember that we have yet to see how hopping goes once it starts. It may be that Epcot fills quickly with lots of people having the same idea. I'm honestly not sure hopping is going to be worth it until capacities are raised - I could easily see Epcot filling and then unless you hop over right at the start of hopping hours you get shut out...and then you've paid for hoppers that you're never able to use.

Agreed about park hopper. I wouldn’t pay extra for those tickets yet until we see what hopping looks like.

Our trip this fall, my kids were 5 and 7 and BLT was perfect. We would go early, leave mid-day as crowds picked up, and return around dinner time.

I’m a BLT fan just for proximity. If the Epcot monorail was running, I would say Poly with no hesitation. However, without that convenience and with construction, I would say to pass on Poly if this is your first stay there.

I think given that the majority of your days are at MK, the split with BLT would be worth the extra money.

The DVC buildings at the Polynesian are very close to the TTC, so it's a short walk to get the monorail or ferry boat there to get to the MK. Capt Cook's is open there as is Kona Cafe and some of the stores. It wouldn't be a problem to stay at the Polynesian and you'd have plenty of room for the baby with the sleeper sofa folded up. You wouldn't even be bothered with the construction and both pools are open.

If you take the BWV split, you can walk to Epcot or take the Skyliner to DHS. BWV would have the queen bed and double sleeper sofa that you could keep folded up.

We had to make a minor tweak to our plans. So we couldn’t do SSR and BLT split cause the stays overlapped and disney doesn’t allow same people in two different reservations. So we are doing a split stay with 3 nights at POP and 4 nights at BLT. We’ve never stayed at POP so excited to have a few days to see if that’s a hotel that will work for us in the future and super excited for BLT cause it is my favorite resort!

I like POp a lot and have stayed there many times. For that small of a price difference, Id choose a deluxe though. We stayed at SS in October and loved it.

Sounds like a great plan! I think that worked out really well for you. Enjoy and have a wonderful time!

I think you will enjoy this split. We have stayed everything from value to deluxe villa, and really enjoy the Pop since the refurb. It’s like a totally different place, and being able to flip up the Murphy bed makes a huge difference.

I’m excited to try a value resort because I’ve never stayed in one. Plus I have mom/daughter trip in April for my birthday so I’d like to know what value is like so I can plan best for me and my daughter.

however, this plan might change again cause there is a possibility of buying some points from a friend for cheap but idk if that will happen or not. The trip is 8 days away so I’d really like to have our plans finalized lol

Well after several days of hotels booking and changes, we finally have finalized our hotel plans. We were able to buy points from a friend and will be staying 3 nights at Saratoga springs in a preferred room and 4 nights at BLT. I’m excited! Only 8 more days!
