Ok guys, here's the situation. I have Wilderness Lodge booked right now July 25-29. Four nights, five day park hoppers with quick service dining.
We've stayed at WL six times and LOVE it!!!
I can change to Pop and add two nights July 24-July 30. Six nights, seven day park hoppers with quick service dining for $10 less.
My daughters boyfriend is coming with us and she's afraid that this being his first trip (he went when he was five so that doesn't count) he won't have as great of an experience at a value compared to a deluxe.
Thoughts PLEASE!!!!!!

My opinion, I don't think it will make a difference what resort you are at. He has not been there to have anything to compare it too.
Going for the extra days, and enjoy yourselves with some extended time there.

Personally, I would prefer more time vs deluxe amenities. Are the Value double beds a detractor...? Maybe split the difference with a mod?

I woudl choose the resort that works best for the family. If the boyfriend has never been he will like wherever you choose. One thing to consider and one your DD may not have thought about, is the construction at WL> For that reason alone I would avoid it.

Pop was my first on-site hotel and I LOVED it! I go to Disney for the big icons and Disney decor. It makes me feel like it's a Disney vacation. I'd rather go as long as I can than for less time. We don't stay in a room Lon g enough to warrant a fancy one.

Why not ask the bf though if he'd prefer a fancier resort or longer time there? Being a Disney virgin and having 4 parks plus lots of add on possibilities he's going to need all the time he can get.

Personally, I would rather stay at an offsite condo than stay at a value or mod - especially with 4 adults. Much more room for the same or less price than a value or mod. The deluxe resorts are a totally different experience. While I have never stayed at a value, I have stayed mod and prefer offsite over a mod. It really depends on what is important to you and your vacation style. So I would do the opposite of everyone else, stay a shorter length of time at a Deluxe resort. Either way, enjoy!

Personally, we prefer the moderate/deluxe amenities vs a value. Especially as adults only trip, I feel like we appreciate the resort a little more. Good luck- let us know what you decide!

I would go "extended" trip over resort choice every time.............while I too love the WL a couple of extra days is sooooooooooo :P much better. How much time do you really spend at the resort?

Doug :goofy:

Another one that would stick with WL. I've stayed at POP and just didn't enjoy it. I did it on a split stay, two nights at POP and then moved to 3 nights at BWV. I usually stay in the deluxe resorts but have started doing split stays on arrival day and the day after just to save a little money and because I'm on a mission to stay at all the resorts. The days I was at POP I really just slept there, I arrived around 3 and headed to a park and got back around 9 or so. Next day I got up early and headed to probably AK since that is the one I always do first because of the bus and then probably MK afterwards and again got back around 9 or so. Still hated it. For me the room was too small and it was just me, the food court was noisy and crowded and the fact that the bus stop wasn't shaded was a pain. I didn't mind the size of the resort, it actually isn't all that big and loved the fact that they have actual lines at the bus stop so there was none of that silly pushing and shoving to get on the bus. I think with all adults the mods and deluxes are just a little more comfortable.

This may be skewed, but I'm always in favor of adding days to a Disney trip. No matter what... Unless it's like going from 14 nights to 16 & then downgrading. But in your case, 6 nights is going to feel sooo much longer than your original 4. True you won't have what you get at a deluxe, but the values definitely scream Disney for sure. I'm guessing most of your time will be spent out & about anyway...

Also It's good to start with expectations low, therefore he / they can always move up in terms of budget. ( in the future ).

Either way Enjoy your trip:thumbsup2

Thanks for all your input guys!! I've changed our reservation to Pop!!
Super excited about this decision, and I got $11.11 back!
I did choose a preferred room by the way. I've booked two sit downs, Ohana dinner and 1900 Park Fare breakfast, so he will get to check out the deluxe resorts!

Great choice, now it's time 2 sit back N Relax...---> Yeah right, Who am I kidding..lol
2 fine choices for sit downs...Ohana's has always been our 1st night Kickoff dinner......& We absolutely love 1900 PF which surpassed Donalds Tusker House Safari Breakfast as our fav. Once again E N J O Y ! !

Good choice to switch in my opinion.

If he's never been there he doesn't know what to expect so won't be disappointed, you get extra days (always awesome!) and if your daughter and bf go back later and can't afford a deluxe resort it won't be putting a dampener on their trip.
How much time will you really spend in the room anyway???

I agree with your decision- unless you want the table service locations or health club at WL, it doesn't really have that much advantage as far as location. Somebody who hasn't visited Disney or can't remember it would probably be wowed by either one. And now you get to have a longer vacation and really have time to do each of the parks plus some relaxing time.
