What would you do?

I am booked for my family of 4- 5/31-6/7. We arrive around 1:00 PM to Orlando and are staying at the Poly. Currently we have 6 day park tickets but I'm debating adding a day or 2 to either our arrival or departure day. Our flight out on 6/7 leaves at 6:30 PM. Would you go to a park on either/both of those days? Would it be worth it for a few hours?

I have an AP now but before that I always bought PH and for the total amount of days I was going to be there. So 5 nights, I would buy 6 day hoppers. If I were staying at the Poly and getting there that early, no way could I not resist hopping over to MK. There is the possibility that your room will not be ready, yes check in is 3 so arriving around 1 will probably put you there close to that but it has happened that the room isn't ready at 3. If your room isn't ready, hopping over to a park is a good way to pass the time. As far as departure day, I always go to a park (usually Epcot) for a good bye before I leave. That is usually when I do my last minute shopping for whatever it was I saw and didn't pick up

Staying at the Poly I would definitely add your arrival day and plan some time at the MK. With FP+ you can book three attractions even if you only spend a couple of hours. Our plan is usually to settle in at the hotel and then head over for dinner, a few attractions, and catch Wishes. Especially being in a MK resort, I would not skip the park.

FYI- you can also decide at check-in! DH and I have upgraded our passes by a day or two with the concierge when checking in. It's usually about $10pp for each additional day.

IMO, it would depend on your kids ages and how far you're traveling from, and how long your trip is going to be. I know myself, if I was going to have to be up and out of the house at say 4:00 am to drive two hours to an airport etc... I'm probably going to want the rest of my day to be pretty low key. I'd probably book a character dinner for that night to kick off the vacation and then spend the rest of the day unpacking, swimming in the pool and getting rested up to attack Disney :)

But, if you have a short drive to the airport, short travel time, and you're not going to be exhausted from traveling, you have older kids that can handle more hustle and bustle, then go for it.

Remember, that if your flight it due to land at 1:00, realistically you probably won't make it to MK until 2:30 or 3:00 depending on how "on time" you arrive, by the time you get off the plane, get your luggage, get picked up by MDE, drive 30 minutes to the park/resort etc etc...

As for your depature day, yes, I would definitely be going to a park that day!!!

Yes, absolutely! You will most likely get to the Poly by 3 pm. That gives you about 6-7 hours of park time if you go to MK or EP (which has EMH on your arrival night! And on your last day, with check-out at 11 am and ME picking you up around 3:30 pm, going to a park is ideal (I would do MK so as not to travel too far from your resort). Adding two days onto your tickets will only cost about $20 per person. I think that's a bargain to get two extra half-days in the parks. You can wait until you get there and decide whether you want to add the days then, however, if you would like to schedule FP+ in advance for those days, I would just add them now.

Decide when you get there. You might be tired, or weather could be terrible. I would wait and see and add on days when I'm there if necessary.

All excellent points, I didn't even think of the FP+! If I booked through Delta Vacations, does anyone know if I can add through Delta or Disney?

After a certain point it's so cheap to add on extra days you might as well - even if you visit for a couple hours. There's certainly time on arrival and departure day.

If you bought your tickets off-site (not through Disney.com) you will not be able to add extra park days now until you get to Florida. You'll have to go to a customer service desk at the parks. You might be able to do it at the resort, but I'm not sure. Someone else can answer that.

Being that you are staying so close to MK and adding extra days is very inexpensive I would add the days for some extra park time.
