With AoA Little Mermaid rooms excluded from FD, we are switching. Our first choice was PORFQ but it's no longer available. Should we stay at Pop and upgrade dinning plan or stay at POR Riverside. We have stayed at Pop before and thought it was just OK. We have never stayed at POR Riverside but we hear it's similar to CBR, which we hated.

If you're going to pay to upgrade the dining plan anyway, why not put that money toward upgrading to a mod, so the DDP gets the automatic upgrade?

With the upgrade it's still $500 more for a mod. I don't know if its worth it because we are afraid it will be like CBR.

For just a smidgen extra you could get the Royal Room at POR which is right next to the main area, so not as much walking. You would still get the DDP, so that would be worth the upgrade from Values & QSDP.

What was it that you didn't like about CBR? That might help us understand why you think they would be alike.

You can also go to portorleans.org to check out the resort on a more detailed level.

It was the walking and the many bus stops. Also, we thought the rooms were in need of a refurb. Thanks for the info!

If this helps...we did not like CBR but do really like POR. We requested and got a mansion, instead of the sprawled out Bayou, so it was close to everything. And the resort is beautiful! If you thought you wanted POFQ, I don't think you will be disappointed in POR. But something might open up at FQ if you keep checking back, too.

Thank you, very helpful!

POR was just completely refurbished within the last few weeks. Everything is sparkling new. CBR hasn't been refurbished for years. In fact, it is due for a refurbishment soon.

I like CBR and POR but they don't seem alike to me. We loved POR and would like to stay again soon.

If you were just OK with POP the new Little Mermaid standard rooms are "smaller" at AoA. Have a friend who works for WDW and people are not going to be happy about that. Also CB has a few more square feet per rooms than POR. enough you will notice it. They totally differnet themes. The Mansions over in PO are more in line with CB

We have chosen POR this year. From what I have gathered, the resort may seem spread out but the walking really is just a few minutes through beautiful landscaped grounds.

Also POR has been completely refurbed, last building being finished off now. Come and join us on the Port Orleans Riverside thread where all your questions can be answered and there are plenty of photos. Also visit portorleans.org

Ditto. I stayed at CBR the first year and switched over to POR the next year and fell in love with it.

The biggest difference was the walk to and from the bus stops. CBR, you had to walk across the parking lot all the way to the room. At POR, you walk on the sidewalk briefly and then get right to the aisleways along the rooms out of the sun.

POR has one of the best food courts on property and one of the nicest restaurants.

The lounge, the staff and the entertainment are wonderful.

The water taxi to and from DTD is a plus, especially if you end the evening at a resort.

The location of the marina is better and the location of the quiet pools are also more strategically located.

Love the theming; I have been to the Caribbean many times and love it, but I am a southern girl at heart......
