Here's my choice...

Stay onsite at either DLH (preferred view high floor) or Paradise Pier (not sure of the room category, but comparable) - estimated price is $400 per night per room (next summer, 2011). I need two rooms.

OR

Stay offsite at Sheraton Anaheim (I really need the shuttle) and get an upgraded room possibly even the 2 bedroom bi level suite - estimated price $400 for either 2 upgraded rooms or the suite. Basically half the price.

One other option (food for thought)

What if a pin code/discount is available for 40% which makes the on site much closer in price to the offsite option. Would you still stay offsite for the upgraded rooms?

(BTW...I am an EXTREME DLR novice. So I am assuming that the preferred view is simply a standard room with a nice view.)

Any thoughts?

Also feel free to chime in with anything else for a newbie. I have already printed and read most of Hydro's tips....THANKS Hydro!

I've read some not so good things about that Sheraton shuttle but think they are fairly isolated.

I would guess that if you can find a deal on the DLH you could find one on the Sheraton as well.

IMO you should stay closer and worry less about the room. I don't spend much time in a room, so will you?

:rotfl2: My Mr. Funball is not so much fun! OK OK Just kidding.

We spend some time in the room during breaks...that's it. And, the Sheraton Anaheim is out because I just called them and found out that they can't guarantee that I would be placed in a room that did not have a pet in it before. DD, DH, DS allergic to cats. So that was out.

I did read Hydro's tips about being close, but I figured with the hotel shuttle every 30 minutes it would be good...but you are all educating me :worship:

What hotels would you recommend within walking distance that have a really nice pool area, possibly club level and large rooms?

If you are like me, and like seeing Mickey and all things Disney everywhere, you would be better suited to stay at DH or PPH. The toiletries come in cute bottles with Mickey heads, the chocolate coins left on the bed, and my favorite is the Princess story time channel!

If you're willing to spend $800 a night (2 rooms, $400 each), you might want to consider renting a 2 bedroom villa at the GCV, which puts you next to DCA, with a full kitchen, 3 bathrooms, and unlimited access to MM.

I love this cost saving option and have used it many times at DL!! Desert Inn and Suites 1600 Harbor Blvd.
http://www.anaheimdesertinn.com/room_suites.htm
They have many combinations of suites!!

Then I have more money to eat at DL and buy souvenirs

Go to the Dollar Store and pick out Disney Window Cling things to add to mirrors and dollar gifts for everyone. Home Depot Has the Green Mickey Head paint chips to say you are a Dis'er!! People decorate there hotel doors and windows and back packs with these.
