What would you do?

I received my trip documents today!! YAY!!! It's really becoming a reality! Not that spending a couple of hours a day on here counts! :)

I ran into one little snag though. I purchased from AAA in January, and on the advertisment sheet I have it says if booked in January, I would receive refillable mugs for free. Okay, not a big deal at the time, whatever. Then I got to be a frequent visitor on the budget board here, and it got me to thinking how much having those mugs will save us money. There are 4 of us, and you get 5 refills a day. We would never have to purchase a drink while there EVER! I broke it down to $2 a drink, 4 people for 2 meals- lunch and dinner (our breakfast is included in the hotel). We will be there 5 days it adds up to $80. And that's if we don't buy drinks other times.

Okay, back to today, when I pick up the docs there's no mention of the mugs. So I ask my trip agent, and she checks (I assume with Disney travel) and apparently I had to travel by 4-24. We're not leaving until 5-5. I come to check my papers, (I've kept everything) and nowhere on the original advertisement does it say when you have to travel by. Should I ask again, and show them the sheet I saved? How would you go about this?

Thanks for any advice you could give me?

Given your comments (& that i believe the re-fillables are no longer available), I would push HARD for the travel agent to make good on an $80 item. (Like a character meal for 4.)

Sounds like it will be a great trip though. :thumbsup2

If you have the original documents that state you should get something, with no dates mentioned, I would bring that to your TA. They should make good on anything that you are supposed to be getting (especially if you have it in writing - what can they say to that?)

I agree with Hound. Tell them it was part of the reason you booked with them and you would like something equal to that given to you. Just stay completely calm and kind the entire time. As someone who worked in the travel industry, I was always more eager to serve those guests who were in a pleasant manner. Even if the mistake was mine. :)

I agree with Hound, good luck, maybe you'll get an $80 Disney gift card!

You tell the agent that you estimate the mugs would have saved you $80 and ask them to substitute a meal or something equivalent (like a gift card for $80) to make good on it . . . .

I'm so confused. These mugs aren't even available anymore? How does the travel agent offer them?

Disneyland does not usually have refillable mugs. OK, they have mugs that you can refill, but you PAY for the refills. Therefore it is a big-deal special that AAA offers this every so often.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I noticed some very confused CMs being asked for the mugs, at a restaurant where people could pick them up. The manager knew what they were, but not the regular CMs, b/c they are not normally seen at DLR.

I was googling "aaa mug" and found:

Special Values and Savings During January Disney Month at AAA Travel!

Special values and savings could turn wishing for a Disney vacation into an affordable dream come true during January Disney Month at AAA/CAA Travel.

In addition to exclusive benefits and savings on Disney Cruise Line packages, Adventure by Disney packages, and AAA Vacations packages to Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, AAA/CAA clients also will receive something special when booking select Disney vacations during January Disney Month.

January Disney Month offers include:

* $25 or $50 Walt Disney World Resort gift card with select AAA Vacations packages
* Collectible mug with complimentary soft drink refills at Disneyland Resort with select AAA Vacations packages
* Additional shipboard credit on Disney Cruise Line

Plus, Disney Parks has extended its “Year of a Million Dreams” celebration through 2008 at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, highlighted by the debut of blockbuster attractions and entertainment like Toy Story Mania! opening next summer at both U.S. resorts. The attraction combines the popular characters from the smash hit Disney•Pixar “Toy Story” films with whiz-bang technology to create an interactive ride-through video game – in three dimensions. AAA Travel clients booking a Disney Month package could be among the first to experience the new ride.

For more information contact your AAA Travel agent at 1-866 241-5730.

That was from the AZ AAA site, though I can't direct link you b/c it's cached. No dates, which means the AAA person would have been extra-required to tell you, and the fact that your AAA person didn't is probably a very big thing.

But I do need to let you know that people who were taking advantage of this earlier in the year reported that there were only maybe three TOTAL places where you could get refills. Rancho, the pizza place in Tomorrowland, and I forget where else. So please take that into account, if someone else backs me up on this, when figuring out how much money you estimated those mugs would have saved you. (I also thought they were sodas only)
