what would you do?

I think that if he is her age then he is just being a kid and really had no idea that this sort of thing is wrong.I hope the teacher wasnt too hard on him.

I rember when I was in first grade during story time I rumbled and the teacher yelled and told me to go sit at my desk and I was banned from story time for a week. I really didnt understand that rumbling was bad.

If he's the same age as your kid, I'd probably not make a big deal of it. Tell your DD it was inappropriate and drop the subject.

If he's older, then you probably have to go through the school giudance counsleor.

1st grade teacher here :teacher: ...

my bet is it happened during recess.
Playgrounds are big & there are plenty of places on the climbing equipment where children can be out of view for a moment.

And believe me, it only takes literally 2 seconds for a little boy to "whip it out & put it back in!!" :rotfl:

It actually hapened in the lunchroom, and the little boy that did it happens to be the class troublemaker.

Well in that case the school needs to have a serious chat with that child and his parents.

But in terms of your DD, I wouldn't make a big deal of it. Tell her it wasn't appropriate and that she should tell a teacher or you if anything similar happens again.

Explain to your DD about how inappropriate this was and that your sorry that it happened to her.

I somewhat disagree with the "sorry it happened to her" part. To me, this might make her feel a little more 'victimized.' I agree with the suggestions of other posters but I think the "sorry this happened to you" language sends the wrong message.

I completely agree with the above poster. It might make her feel like something horrible happend. When it was just an immature kid who needs to be reminded how to act appropriately.
