I have just been to our local corner shop to get the evening paper and saw her serve alcohol to a girl who was definately under ag My DD is 16 and i know she is younger than she is. What would you do report it or ignore it? We have all suspected this because we have seen youngsters walk past our house with bottles of wkd :confused3

I would report it to the licensing officer, most Police areas have a dedicated unit that deal with licensing matters.

Claire ;)

I would report it. That's the only way to crack down on under age binge drinking.

I would definatley report it. In Portsmouth there are always loads of teenagers hanging around drinking and causing trouble and its horrible. It really annoys me that some people are so irresponsible that they buy underage kids alcohol!

I would report it ~ Only way to stop it.

I agree report it! :thumbsup2 If they keep serving underage kids something awful could happen to any of them! It needs to be stopped!

I would definitely report it. It needs to be stopped! This type of thing really makes me mad! :furious:

I don't kow who you talk to about this. It would be the people who give out liquor licenses, but who is in charge of that? :confused3

Anyway, they send in people who are underage or look very young and if they don't card them, they will lose their liquor license and the store will be fined BIG TIME! They used to do this at the grocery store I worked at. The whole time I was working there no one was caught selling to underage. I would card pretty much EVERYONE! Even people who were borderline middle-age. I mean better safe than sorry. But still people would get mad at me and say things like "Do I seriously NOT look old enough to you?!" Well, sometimes looks can be decieving! :rotfl:

Licencing board are responsible. I'd report it to both the Police and Local Authority, probably Trading Standards would be the right people :)

As per others I'd definitely report it.

I'd report it, but I don't know who to.. :confused3:

At least you are more in the know than me. :)

If you report it to the Police they can certainly pass it on to the right departments. Often Police send in Police Cadets, under 18, to do the buying and if sold to underage the licensed premises are either warned or a report is sent to the Licensing Authority to decide if the license should be revoked. It used to be the Magistrates Court who issued Liquor licenses but have a feeling that may have recently changed.

Local Authority will also enlist help of young people. Recently two shops were fined here for selling fireworks to underage. Youth forum members willing helped since they wanted to help expose rogue shops. Of course it also exposed establish, supposedly responsible, local family firm :confused3

I have just spoken to someone at standards of fair trading and aparently they already know about this shop but witnessing it doesn't count. They have to prove it.

Hopefully they will set out to prove it now that you have brought it to their attention :goodvibes

My thoughts exactly :)

I thought if they suspected somewhere they would send youngsters in to buy the goods so they could catch the shopkeeper selling them.

I hope they check it out! My DS has just turned 13, and being tall for his age could probalbly pass for 16 and buy fags.

Sadly, no-one has ever asked me to prove I was over 18, or even over 21
