There are a few variables here. I cant make up my mind. First and foremost it will be Jan 27. It snows in Wisconsin making travel a bear at times. We have ticket vouchers on an airlline. But there is only one seat available out of the city we live in for this type of fare. (voucher= free) I can get to Milwaukee the day before either greyhound, my husband taking me on Friday (4 hours round trip) or having my daughter drive home from Milwaukee on Friday night and taking me back to Milwuakee on Saturday. and then flying out of Milwaukee on the same flight as my husband. This scenerio would get us into Orlando at 1:30 p.m.

Scenerio two is that we can get out together on the same flight out of the town we live in but later causing us a 4 hour layover in Milwuakee. Getting into Orlando 6:15 P.M. Then we dont deal with a snowstorm etc driving (if that happens) but I would feel like I have paid for a day that I spent sitting in Milwaukee.

I know it is a guestimate but how long do you think it will take us once we land in Orlando? Also toying with using a towne car service instead of magical express.

Maybe best just to go with the flow and be happy about vouchers= free....

any opinions appreciated thanks

I'd book the later arriving flight and then keep checking daily to see if seats open up on the earlier flight that you want. Often seats open up closer to travel time as they see they're not filling up. And last week of Jan is not considered high-volume time.

Check though to see if there is a penalty with these vouchers. Are they changeable? If you book the later flight can you then switch at no penalty/fee if something better opens up?

I would definately go with the later flight and fly out together. If would be awful if your flight never got off the ground due to mechanical problems or icing and your DH's did. At least this way you are together if anything goes wrong with flights. It seems too stressful for one of you to drive to another airport in order for this to work. Can you fly out on another day all together, or are your travel plans set for this exact day?

If you are willing to drive to MKE why not just keep driving to Chicago (ORD/MDW)? Lots of flights to Orlando and very cheap prices lately. Might even make sense to drive down Friday night stay at an airport hotel and leave early the next morning.

The tickets I have are on Midwest from taking a bump. They are voucher for a ticket for any destination that Midwest has. (free airfare) So we dont need to worry about cost of tickets esentially they are free just have to pay taxes and such. And they are changeable ( a rareity I know) I talked to Midwest today again and doesnt look like things will open up for that am flight. The plane only holds 32 people and it is filling up. Probably will be sold out. She said we could try going out standby but who wants the stress of that. We could both drive together to Milwaukee and pay parking but would have to drive back. would be so much nicer not to have to make that two hour drive at the end of our vacation. I think dougsmom you are right, what a killer that would be if one of us couldnt get out for what ever reason. I think I will just chill about it, keep checking and have a Margarita at Milwuakee airport with that four hour layover. Hey I will be on vacation! Thanks

oh yeah dh doesnt want to take another vacation day as we could get out together on Friday...believe me I tried!
