What Would You Do?

Boy, did I get bad information from the scout leader and the coordinator.

I called GS house and they have insurance that will cover just this sort of thing. They offer to pay the first $100 of medical fees and then to cover our deductibles as a secondary insurance. The person at GS House told me that she sees no reason why this would be denied and she'll send me the paperwork.

I made it clear to her that if it will cost GS house more to have this covered, I don't want to pursue it further. I don't want anything more than to have the insurance help us out, if it is available.

She said, "No problem. This is exactly the type of thing that it is there to cover." She also said she'd have someone contact the leader to tell her what is available in the way of insurance if someone else needs to use it.

I am glad it worked out.

I thought you had exhausted your means of going thru Council to get it resolved and I am glad you double checked and worked out that way. I am going thru some of my own Girl Scout drama (with adults!), but anyway I digress.

Again, best wishes to your daughter.

Glad it worked out. It sounded like me that you only wanted to see if someone's insurance would cover it, not that you wanted to sue over it. I was just about to post that when I read your update. I'd have done the same, ask around and see if it's covered and if not, drop it and chalk it up to "expenses of raising kids".

Well! What an appropriate answer! Good for the Girl Scouts!

Yeah! I'm glad it was resolved.

This post makes me what to run to our church council and request that we disallow community groups from using our building during times we have no custodial staff for ice patrol, etc. We thought we were doing a community service by allowing groups to use our building. :guilty:

I'm glad I don't live in a place with lots of ice. I can see there would be horrible issues with kids running on my sidewalk etc. Do people hire someone to come ice three times a day if they not home to do so?

Thanks for pursuing it the right way!
My faith is restored.:thumbsup2

This same thing happened to my mom a year ago in our church parking lot. She was getting into her car after church and slipped and fell and hurt her ankle. They brought her to the hospital and she ended up being in there for 6 days and had to have pins put in. She never even thought of asking the church for any compensation - but the Pastor came to her and told her that their insurance would cover everything. So, churches do have insurance for these types of things and that is what I got out of the OP's question - is that she was just looking to see if their insurance would cover it.
